I have some restrictor sets also. The new ones are pretty nice, they have more radius at the top.

I got my set of alluminum inserts for free when the distributor I went through had to delay an order because they ran out. It was a nice gesture for them to do it. Brian from bhr hobbies is a great guy and would deal with him again over and over again. Ive bought two motors from him without a problem. Great guy.

Is it at least turning over or still getting stuck at TDC?

malik 07-10-2008 07:35 PM

It turned over some and got stuck quite a few times too.

Well I do not know how much you know so do not take this the wrong way. I would take the buggy or truggy and tip it on it side to see if fuel comes out of the exhaust, maybe its flooded. Remove glow plug and check it, turn over without plug to see if fuel blows out but pinch off fuel line when you do. Make sure fuel it getting to carb. Prime the carb yourself by blowing into exhaust fuel line so you know for a fact it has fuel. Again you might already know this.

Yeah I did that but once its cool there is no turning it over, the mil that is. No fuel in the pipe cause I swiched to my 086 in between trying to start it up. When I prime it should I get fuel right to the carb inlet or keep blowing I only got it to the inlet and for a seconed or two while it was kicking over I put my finger over the exaust then let go IDK.

I keep blowing it in for a second or two. Then heat that puppy up and slam it down on the starter box. Also, rotate the flywheel all the way in the opposite direction it normally rotates. You'll get more momentum that way.

malik 07-10-2008 08:18 PM

How about running a few tanks through the 1st time I get it started since Brian already did his break in on it? I know the more the better for getting rid of the pinch.

Have you checked your ignitor? You may have a bad glowplug.
Take the glowplug out and see if it glows in your ignitor. Also,
while you have the glowplug out, turn your motor upside down
and see how much raw fuel spills out of the glowplug hole in the
head, the motor may be locking up because it's flooded. Just a
thought, but it's worth a try.

These babies are notoriously tight when new. Got to heat them up really well and catch it just right on the starter box to get it turning over.
If you are going to race in a couple of days, just be aware that you will not get anywere near full performance from the 5 Port until you have put 1.5 + gallons on it !! Don't try to lean it out for extra performance when it's tight. It just won't work. Just keep the HSN flush and take it easy. When you get 1.5 gallons on it, replace the con rod and then let it rip.
You have the run in shim fitted ? This really helps to ease the initial starting and running. Good luck and enjoy

just a question regarding best pipe for my engine, i just ordered 5 port turbo 21 for my mbx5t running 25% with 12% oil and was just wondering which pipe will best suit the engine as we have a fairly open tracks but i still want good run times 8-10 min. i have a nova 9886 pipe with long header or a jp3, which is the best combo you think.
