I have a question for you guys. I have an old novarossi plus 21-5 that had a rear bearing let go on me awhile back. Lets just say the piston and head button don't look new anymore lol. However the crankshaft, crank case, and carb are all fine still. I have been thinking about buying a go tech 5 port piston, sleeve, rod, and head button for it, as well as a set of tko ceramic bearings. My question is would the go tech stuff slide right into the nova case and crank? I checked the bore and stroke and it is the same with the go and the nova. I can get all of the parts for around $150( alot cheaper than the nova parts) so i think it is worth it. My thought is that with the go p/s/r and the nice nova 21-5 crank the motor should produce a nice smooth, powerful powerband. I am just wondering if all the parts would lign up? I believe I heard somewhere that the go was actually modeled off of the nova, atleast the P/S/R was. Brian do you have any idea as to wether it would work? I just thought it would be a fun thing to try with a motor that would have been a paperweight. Thanks for any help.

does anyone know what to expect from running the 2047 pipe with the 0801 header
thanks in advance:nod: |
Russell- are the brass shims thinner than they used to be. I am going to break this 7 port in but noticed it came stock with 1 alum and 2 brass, instead of 1 brass.
Instead of knowing how many shims, what is the "stock" thickness in 1/1000th's. |
Go's come with one alum. two brass shims and a 3rd brass in the box. After you get a gallon on it you can take out one brass shim so you have one alum one brass.

.25 or .21 ??? Go with the 5 port .21. You will not be disappointed. |
Well I just got mine started, after using a Heatgun and a fair few attemps but it finally kicked over... FINALLY. I was getting rather frustrated and thought I was doing something wrong, but it got there.
I am sure the LSN / IDLE isnt set right, BUT it turned over so that was the main thing. And then about 40seconds after it starts idling I get half a house hold screaming at me coz the kids just went down... FFS! I am now really pissed. All I want to do is get this thing idling for a few tanks but no, it seems that aint happening today. Grrrrrrrr! |
yyyyyaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy i got my 3 port today and o my goodness im freaking excited to get this thing broken in. what are the best plugs for these things. btw its the sport motor

Nice one. I got the "Go 7 Port Pro .21 Combo Pack" (http://www.massivemods.com.au/produc...roducts_id=133) last week and its looks awesome. I cant wait to get my broken in either. Tomorrow is the day... i promise :) I am using a LRP Turbo 6 Plug at the moment also.
Initial settings for your 7 port are HSN flush and LSN 1.5 turns in. This will get you running a little rich. Foil the head with kitchen foil and run it rich at 100 - 110 deg C for 8 - 10 tanks, doing nice easy figure 8's (boring but you will be rewarded with a strong long lasting engine). Up to quarter throttle first 3 tanks, up to half throttle next three tanks, then up to full throttle in short burts for last two tanks of the foiled running. Then remove the foil and lean the LSN in over a couple of tanks to around 2.5 turns in from flush (this will be pretty close to race tune). Adjust HSN if required for crisp top end, but no more than .5 of a turn in total (this is assuming you have a long LSN carb. If you have one of the new shorter LSN needles you will need to tune the HSN leaner by maybe a full turn). Now you are ready to kick butt  Just be aware the 7 Port will be pretty tight up until you have run 1.5 - 2 gallons through it. Don't lean the top too much expecting full power until you have this amount of fuel through the motor, as it won't happen, and you could experiance some lean bog if you try to lean it out too soon. Be patient because it's worth the wait. When these motors loose their pinch and start to really hum they are awesome. LRP # 6 is fine in the summertime. You may find in the cooler weather you need to change to a really hot plug like the OS P3 or P4. The Go motors like a hot plug. I used the LRP # 6 for a while, but they didn't perform well over winter. I run OS P3 all year round now and find them really good. |

thanks in advance:nod: 0801 header adds a little more zip down low and into the mid range, and the 2047 being a high end pipe lets the 7 Port scream all the way to the top. I tried this on my 7 Port briefly and it went well, but I found it was down on economy a little compared to the 053 and 0801. However, that might be something to do with my tuning skills of course  Never tried it on the 5 or 3 Port - worth a crack though. |
New .21 5 port pinch
Hi guys
I have just finished building my D8 looks great. I have a .21 5 port with 0801 pipe and my problem is the what i suspect is the pinch. This thing is so tight i cant even turn it over by hand I tried heating it with a hairdryer but i still couldn't turn. Is this just the 'pinch' and do i just keep working at it or is it something more? Thanks for any help Allan |
Bigal: See my post above (and disregard LosiRacer's reply he has obviously never tried to turn over abrand new Go Tech engine)

The Go motors are very tight when new (and stay tight up to the 1.5 gallon mark as described in my post above). All you have to do is: Fit the supplied break in shim (leave in for first 1 - 1.5 gal) Have a fully charged glow starter Pre heat motor with powerfull hair dryer or hot air gun. You need to get it very hot ie: near to running temps Loosen glow plug half a turn to ease the compression Place motor at BDC so the crank gets a bit of momentum up The motor will turn over enough to start. If it jams just turm flywheel with screw driver (prising against chassis) and try again. If it jams a couple of times, make sure you reheat it again to relieve the pinch a little before trying again. Make sure you tighten the glow plug as soon as engine fires. There is nothing wrong with the motor. Go's are just very tight when new, which is good as it makes for a long lasting motor if broken in properly. |
