Yes you have to use the Losi collet. It is a different taper than most other companies use, the collet that comes with the Go is what most other motors come with. The older Losi flywheels had the wrong taper in them for the collet and sometimes came loose after time. The older ones are the real narrow flywheel.

Guys,

Im not trying to bother you, but on the southamerican championship all
its based on IFMAR rulebook, this race will be from April 17th to 20th
in Caracas-Venezuela this year, and im seriously thining on giving a 7
port Go Tech engine a try on that event (specially considering that the
track its technical on the inside but with a long 225feets long back
straight).

That way, the pipe i use must be EFRA allowed (not by the LAST changes,
but EFRA approved until end of 2007).

So, any help ?

thanks,

Pato Concha
Southamerica

Ok, i need some expert advice on my Go .21 5p

I got it last spring, and ran it the whole summer and didnt have any problems, it ran good.

So, now i got new bearings for it, a turbo head button, OS P3 plugs and Sidewinder 20% fuel, i just had it outside on the street to try out my new truggy and i couldent get it to idle down as it should, after each wot run the engine would rev really high for a while, and slowly settle down to a normal idle, temps where pretty low, around 150F, so i tried to lean the hsn and the idle got even higher but temps didnt really go up, the highest temp i got was 175F.

So, what do i do ? what are the " stock " settings on the carb so that i can " start over "

Swede did you switch to 20% Nitro or where you running 20% before, If I was to guess and thinking that your carb needles werent changed and you only changed the button. I think what happened was your HSN is now rich because of the turbo button. So set your HSN for performance you may need to lean it and you should see the temps come up. Remember that you HSN also effects your LSN, so after leaning the HSN your LSN may now be too lean and you will need to richen it. Also remember to adjust your idle, usually run on is the problem of a improper idle gap masking a overly lean or overly rich LSN. You may want to set your idle gap at 1mm when you reset your needles.

Nitroluver that is why you should never use another engines internals in your engine or use go engine internals in other engines, it may look like it works but the tolerances could be way off.

And about the shiming, i was told when i got it it was shimmed for 20% it has two shims, but i guess the newer engines comes with 3 ??

And i did seal the carb at the " famous " spot, just where the aluminum part where the hsn is meets the plastic part of the carb ( dont know any other way to explain it :) )

Check the idle gap on the carb slide. It sounds like you may have too bigger gap. This can cause the problem you have described. After a WOT run the idle will be high because the gap is too big, then after a short while the engine will load up with fuel and the idle will come down, but only because it has loaded up due to a slightly rich LSN. If you find the revs staying up after releasing the throtlle when you go over jumps, this is another sign that your idle gap is too wide. Set the gap smaller (about .5 - .7mm) and re tune the bottom end. Once everything is running good reset the idle if you have to.
I had a similar tuning problem some time back. This combination of to bigger idle gap and rich LSN also caused my engine to get hotter and hotter as it went through a tank. Since resetting as above, everything is running sweet as ;) Worth a look IMO

*NOTED...not mad at all because that's 100% my fault ya know...but learnin is part of the deal in this hobby , the sad thing is it was runnin well:lol: well kinda on the tank it snapped on the motor seemed to be super lean on bottom no matter how rich i went

My question is on the clutch setup. I used the collet that
came with the go and the clutch bell will not spin after
I tighten the screw all the way down. I have shimmed multiple different
ways and still no movement. Should I use Losi collet or am
I doing something wrong.

if your using the losi flywheel you must use a losi collet as they are designed for use together as the losi collet is shorter than a standard one
