Seattle RC Racers/Hangar 30
Didn't read the whole thread. Never mind :-)

ARC R11 CARPET MASTERS; MIKE, DONNY, etc..
I am looking for an amazing carpet setup for our R11's for the BigChill and the rest of the year.
MIKE, DONNY, or anyone else who is running the R11
Does anyone have a setup sheet that they really love that they would be willing to share?

I'm really liking the 6.5 power in my mod 1/12th car. One, it's a very nice speed to drive. Still fast, and fast enough to make me pay if I lose my concentration. But, I don't feel like it's self-destructing underneath me with every passing minute. I'm making it through the night without either thrashing through short maintenance cycles which are the reality with 4.5+ power, or wishing I had gone ahead and swapped to new tires for the main instead of stretching for the third run. There's definitely an economy to it.
As to the spec stuff...yeah, it could go there in some cases. IIC was a huge track, and it's not a surprise a spec racer (Knapp) won. But, looking at the Halloween Classic just concluded and run on a much more typical track where a 6.5 provides an excess of power for the circuit, lo and behold back at the top was an actual mod racer (Hebert).
That said, I'm for open mod as a rule. My decisions are my business and I'm not going to sandbag anyone else for theirs. 6.5 is fast enough to mix with the high-po cars without causing anyone a migraine. A 10.5 would be too slow (Kody tried it and got rammed by Dave on the straight--closing speeds matter), but 6.5 is quick enough to mix with Harbke and his land missile.

i probably should just be quiet but no,
I few years ago at FW the mod sedan class was dead, I suggested hey lets limit Mod to 6.5, several jumped on board,,, revived the class, but at the same time, there were those, mod is mod, blah blah blah, and so after a while, those that jumped in with 6.5s were either buying bigger motors or going back to stock. I suggested spec tires, oh hell no.... I suggested spec 17.5 motors, again oh hell no,
well now that Seattle is basically the only game in town,(no disrespect to the guys up north) you have spec motors, spec tires and debates on mod motors. most all of this has been beat to death on the FW thread, just make a decision, stick to it, folks will adapt. do whats best for the program

That's the downside to being a pioneer, Ritchie. You can take credit for showing the way, but you're also most likely to be the one face down in the prairie with a bunch of arrows sticking out.
I'd say one of the more fun parts of the hobby, and this club, is the endless debate about rules and what's best for a particular class or program at large. So long as the discussion is friendly (more or less, with minimal references to "your mother," or "you have the IQ of a grape," or "you're slow so what do you know," or "this isn't offroad you piddling dingus," etc.) talking it out loud is okay and actually a sign of healthy engagement.
With very rare exceptions, we set the rules at the beginning of the season and they don't budge from there. So, 1/12th Mod is open mod. Some of us are running 6.5/blinky, which is 100% A-OK by the rules. I can even recommend it to those considering the class. But as for the rules? It's open mod through the end of the season--no changes there.

What about that time you showed up at FW with foam tires for your open mod electric TC...
with a novak 3.5 and 5cell battery.. most fun ever, that was the day mod is mod went away, it changed to mod is mod but with these restrictions.... heck some fought against foam tires in nitro...
Need feedback...new stickers
Hi All,
Need feedback on the direction of the new sticker sheet...the hanger 30 logo carries over....testing a few fonts/treatments for the SRCRs text. Let me know what you like or if there is a direction you would like to see.

A few other takes just for fun
Nice work, Jeff! And Matt, too.
I'm happy you're carrying over the Hangar 30 logo. That's a must.
I do think some iconic symbol of Seattle worked into an image would be great. Maybe that's the Space Needle? It may seem like a cliche to us who live here, but for the rest of the country, or even the world, the needle is instantly recognizable as "Seattle." Probably more than any other thing, even Mt. Rainier.

Put President Mason's face on the sheet too :lol
Thanks all of you for coming up to the Big Chill race in BC, it was a fun event.
Since I started in RC, local Vancouver turnout and numbers were always dwindling, but visiting thriving SRCR and IROCC would motivate us to keep going, and we're looking better than ever.
Just wanted to write out a big thanks for the SRCR club for helping me learn the way of 1/12, and discover Scale Spec again. It's only been a little while since my rookie season in 1/12, and I could not have my car as dialed as it is without the experienced clubbies and friendly environment you guys have.
Hope to race with you very soon!
