I find that the mugen clutch shoes does not last very long. Does any other brand fit?

And to directly answer your question, other brands likely won't fit as the clutch is quite unique, but A-Plus or someone like that make a 5 clutch kit I think, though I read elsewhere the brand quality is crap. |
I ran two races and 2 practice sessions , and I always reset my clutch before each outing. The X-ray surely lasted longer. I was hoping that some other high quality clutch shoe would fit. Im not interested in using and aftermarket clutch set like a-plus. I'm not knocking it cause I've never tried it but the mugen clutch is fine, just wanted other shoe options

I use the yellow normal clutch not the dynamic, could be the reason. maybe they (xray that is) fit the mugen |
I have also the same prob with the clutch. After a 5-10min session I have more endplay in my clutch.
|
Your right, the xray standard clutch does last a long time. You could run it for a complete summer. Then again the mugen clutch shoe is almost 1/3 the price of an xray shoe.

The mugen clutch can tend to be a little aggressive, so you must stay on top of your end play and thrust bearing. This is why i like to reset my clutch before each outing. |
Ill try the xray high dynamic clutch shoe as soon as i get my hand on one. And what screws are you guys using to close up the diff with.

Diff screws

The trick here is not to over tighten them!! If you do you will distort the diff end cap and they will leak like crazy. The last diffs I built, i also add a smear of gasket sealer too. These diffs have not leaked. Steve H |

Is your thrust bearing end stopper concentric ? Not sure if you are running the t2002 kit. In The older kit this part was faulty. But I would check all new ones too. It can be hard to pick up in some it was only a small amount but it will make shoes wear quick. Steve H |
we ran 1/8 red one in 4r but i am not shore whether the mrx5 make a red one //how hard are you on cold clutch we got about 15 liters 6 months out of our first yellow one //we always lot it warm up or it will slip//blip throttle a bit till it grabs properly
greg grandson //my driver is back racing again we did about 2 hours practice to day and car is still in one piece only one crash little one no damage |

I didn't see a problem, plus i only stripped 1 gear, on my initial runs, but its been great since then. I will double check since you mentioned it. I think the xray one is the same size. Thanks again. |
