MTX 5
anyone heard when it will hit the tracks??
|
there was a hope or a rumor of a new 1/10th car, its not looking good but it wont be called the Mtx5 from what i have heard, i heard it will be the Mtx4-rx similar to the 1/8th MRX4-X upgrade.
Dont go by what i have said its only what i have heard. |
I contacted Mugen on this issue last week and was told there is no new car or upgrade at this time.
|
I imagine new designs are on hold for a bit since Sheperd's designer just joined Mugen. With him on board I'm sure many great new things will be coming down the road but it might be a little while.
|
man I miss onroad, Should have kept all my mugen stuff, with 301 raceway only half hour away

To tell you the truth...I believe a new car will be released next year sometime. I was at the Mugen factory in Chiba, Japan last fortnight whilst on Holidays and I did see a prototype..not sure if it will be the same car as released...but it did look cool. Unfortunately all the writing on the card was in Japanese..so it made no sense to me  But yes, I would say next year.
|
I hope they fix the gear stripping problem of mtx4.
|
Do you guys feel that we REALLY need a new car just yet?
Is there another car out there that makes the MTX4 R obsolete. Any car that is quicker than the Mugen for technical reasons? I feel absolutely competitive with mine and I got plenty of spares left, so I hope Mugen will wait at least until the end of next season. Also, who feels that his driving skills are better than what the car can deliver?:sneaky: I know, mine aren't!! Btw, I never had a spur gear issue!!! |
yea i never had a gear strip at all and i been racing about a year, i still feel competitive, like you, with mine but that is because we all are running the same car. i think it would be to mugens advantage to bring out an upgrade kit rather than the new car and make it the MTX-4rx and people with the mtx4 series can just upgrade rather than buying a brand new car.
Just my 2 cents worth |
I know a brand who comes up with model every year and still is not able to beat the other brands ;)

That's why I love nitro racing. The cars are good for 3-4 years. |
come on mugen, even some brand is going to shorten its re-engineering time from 2 years to, maybe 1 after you launch a new car. mugen is still a mugen.

Gears
I never had a gear strip in a full season with MTX4R.
I didn´t use the new gears. Only the "old ones". No problem. The MTX4 is still a competitive car. Won a chapionship with Serpents, Xray and Team Magic evolved. It´s still a great car. Very simple but efective. If a new car is comming it must be a blast... with technical inovations. Best regards Luís Cortez |
Mugen tends to roll with what works. All these companies that keep changing their car designs and putting out new cars 6 months to a year after releasing a new kit means that they did not get it right the first time, in my opinion. They keep you buying/spending making you think that you have to get the latest/greatest just to keep up. I have been racing my MTX4 since it first came out (reluctantly bought it because my MTX3 was still highly competitive but parts availability gave way to the MTX4 parts production, forcing the switch). While I have been running my MTX4, many of my buddies have bought and run both versions of the Serpent 720, several versions of the Kyosho V one RRR, two versions of the G4, and the Xray NT1. Yes, I have one buddy in particular that have owned all the above including the MTX4 during my almost 2 years of owning my MTX4. So, why keep making major changes to a product that is working just to make changes (ask the folks that bought the Impulse Pro which was quickly replaced by the 705 and immediately replaced by the 710, all of which shared almost no parts meaning you were stuck like chuck especially with the 705 model). So, Mugen, take your time and if you are eventually going to come out with a new model, phase it in like you have done with your previous two models (MTX3 and MTX4).
|
i agree, the mtx4r is still a awsome car and not much needs to be changed, so i recon when a mugen cant beat a Kyosho or a Serpent or an Xray then the new 1 will come out.

every car is a winner with the right driver !.......................

2009 is an 1/8th onroad worlds year, I would think they would be working on development of the MRX4 instead of the sedan.
|
i wouldn't because they just brought out the MRX4-X so they wouldnt be bringing out a new 1/8th less than a year after they just brought it out.

How long was the -R around before the -X was released? I wasn't really implying a new car, just concentrating development on the MRX platform instead of the MTX for the Worlds.

The R was there by the 2005 Messina World's race. The X was for the 2007.

Now I have tons of mtx3 to last me till the MTX5 comes out. The MTX3 is like a tank. A little slower but I don't run the risk of blowing out 2nd gear. |

hmm
there are a lot of closet MUGEN fans there just shy:lol::lol:

ryan41 is the type of guy that thinks what wins the worlds, will make him win. Believe me his lack of results show that he should of stuck with MUGEN.

well if he wanted to go slower, he would run a KYOSLOW. That's right he had the M3, sold it to his mate, who in turn sold it promptly and returned to the MRX4X. Bring on the MTX5 at least you know when it's released you won't have to buy a new car for a couple of years at least. One thing is when Mugen release a car it's not updated every year. I myself have tried alot of other brands but now I know what the best is just read the bottom line.

The reason i like mugen is that it never has any unwanted options such as the other brands. if it really has options, mugen has thought inside out its feasibility. and i think whatever mugen chose to build, it already qualified the supplier, there should be problem free. unlike i owned a 960 as a 2nd car, its options were quite lousy, and expensive.
for mugen, it is just a racer out of the box. it will never build a car which must require option to be able to run:lol::lol: |

You are absolutely right! in my country, there are only less than 2 mrx4 running since 2004 due to the lousy distributor, i am buying parts from japan(in fact, my local distributor is the one probably contributed the result of mtx4 having a serial# in the chassis) At the track where i am going and it is a snake base, many 960 people did come to ask me what this and that to hop up. And the funny thing is, i am always telling them. I was afraid of not having enough local support by the time i had this car so i stock up a lot of required parts. But until now i still have tons of unused spare parts that i can almost build another spare mrx4.
To cut it short, Mugen has a very durable car. With the same impact, my mrx4 has no damage, but same on a 960, wow, they needed to change a lot of parts. even the mtx4 sibling- xray's nt1, it has hell of a lot of expensive options. no wonder they spent 2 years to reengineer to produce a me too, to "develop options".:lol: |
the only options or hop ups i think are good for the Mugen are
1. Ti screws. 2. optional 4mm chassis ta-dahhh you have a racer. :D |

The problem is that there is about 1 mm gap btwn the clutch bell and the 2nd gear housing, if there is some excess chassis flex, the clutch bell will contact the 2nd gear housing and strip the 2nd platic gear.

MTX3 have traction roll problem and excessive push, don't you think ? ( I still have 2 mtx3 prospec on the shelf, but I haven't race it again since january 2007 ). |
