I use Allen screws for the Hitec servos which are an odd size (2.6mm) but didnt have a washer that was a good size to match them and fit the Tekno horns until I found the Durango 6x3mm washers. They're a perfect fit for the plastic throttle/brake and the aluminum steering horns. As an added bonus, they were orange :)

Durango part #TDR709007 if anyone else is interested. On a side not, I didnt forget to tighten the horns set screw, it stripped out some how! It will just have to survive as is for a while because I'm not ordering another.

I have an EB48.2............thinking about stepping into Nitro, have wanted to for a long time just always thought it would be too difficult.

I am pretty set on sticking with the Tekno after studying a few owners manuals I like a lot of the features of the NB48.

What is a good engine for a beginner, I am leaning towards the Reds?

Any and all suggestions would be highly appreciated.

There are a ton of great engines out there. If it's your first and you're a bit nervous, it might be a good idea to try one of the cheaper but reliable options like Werks, Alpha, or Reds R5R. These will perform well (and there are others too) without breaking the bank and if something should happen to the engine, you wont have a huge investment into it. When you're looking at pipes, try to find something that will work well on a couple engines just to save some money down the road. The 2058 works well on quite a few different engines (outstanding on the Werks) for example.

Nitro isnt difficult, just find somebody that will show you how to tune the engine (not tune it for you) and start conservative.

Do you really need to mount it? I ran the losi filter on the last 3 cares I have owned, never mounted it and never had a problem. I think it's unnecessary.

You will need to clamp it, just the top screw isn't enough, it'll slip in a race. That said, I also stripped mine by over tightening(there's no other way to strip something haha) but I replaced the short stock screw w a longer one that goes completely thru the hole and problem fixed. I'll add pic when I unload my truck from yesterday's races.

Perhaps not but it looks like this is about the location the filter would be in regardless so I figured I'd try to mount it. I'd rather not have it flopping around if I can prevent it.

I'm going to give the Ofna horn a shot this time around.

looks great!! now I need them to make 1 for the truggy!!;)

madweazl 09-28-2014 06:33 PM

Since I switched over to the Losi filter setup, I have the original setup with a brand new filter installed plus 5 complete ProTek filters (PTK-7701) with 3 additional inners. If somebody needs/wants them, you're welcome to them for $5 shipped.

I love the stock truggy body, you can pick a Tekno out of the crowd so easily but would love another option too, i asked my Pro-Line team manager too so hopefully something will happen!
