So for those keeping track... setup changes are as follows:
Sway bar swap, front to rear, rear to front All shocks stood up one hole on tower Rear running inner hinge pin hole at hubs Steering Limit Screws- (my screw + washers are removed) would say equiv. to 1 washer or screw with no washer. i had a look at the track you race on youtube, could only find vids from 2012, looked basically like sand track, cars spinning off left right and centre lol. What is the surface now? sand, clay, loam? it might be too locked in on a higher grip track |
From stock setup yes.
Yeah the track .... Hmm... LOL... when damp, traction is ok.. the packed areas are ok, but it develops a really fine dust that makes it slick. It is not sand, closer to silt... it is old AG land. I generally set the car up so it will drive reasonably well on our track. This method nets me a "max traction/ stability" setup. I then use that at a track with more traction and adjust as needed. I find it easier and quicker to take a "tight" car and make it "loose". Or Lazy to Aggressive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJ_P9GrFXFE The JQ with yellow wheels / white body is me ^^ Most recent video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrK-dhevvAc The red can is a Tekno EB (The video taker is driving that car)... Im not in this race however, also the race is being run in the reverse direction, the flow the other way is much better, as this was the way it was designed for https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q4wxKbVpvo - same day, the solid green car is Dean Rock, super fast kid :) |
cheers for the links, had a look at them. at least its real offroad.
i agree its good to have a set up for a loose track that still drives well |

I wonder if these same changes will have a similar effect on the EB48.....I recently got one for my son, and we've only had one day at the track with it. He says he likes the way it drives, but I can see that the tail is still a bit loose exiting corners on power.
The track we're going to this weekend is loose, so I'll try the inner location on hubs first, followed by diff oil change. I've already installed screws and washers in the arms to limit steering while he gets used to running e-buggy (he has run 4WD SCT for the past couple of years) |

Yes these changes also effect the EB48, I move to inner hinge pin hole on loose tracks to square up on acceleration. Also adjust the squat.

Hey Tekno NB48 fans! Here's a short video of the first 10 minutes of the buggy A-Main from a local series race I attended last weekend. I started 2nd for the main but took the lead at about the 2:15 mark and pulled away for the remainder of the race. I'm the white buggy with black wing and green wheels. My fellow racer took the video with a Go pro head mount. He was tq with his MP9. I've had plenty of buggies over the last 8 years and the NB48 is the best so far!

Odd how quiet this forum is vs the EB48 one. I think the NB48 is actually better in its respective class

Maybe that's it, nothing to talk about cus it just works
|
Round 3 of the Midwest Nitro Series was this on Saturday. Good Tekno turnout as well. One person being on the team. I should of talked to him more, maybe see if there was a opening too! LOL
But that is where the good news ends because this weekend was NOT a good weekend for Tekno. I dont know what happened to the other guys(3 I think) but I broke a knuckle in a qualifier, missed another one and had tires go out in the B main and even after doing a tire change and keeping 3rd,I lost the screws in the same knuckle I just changed out. Just a bad mojo day period! Now I am faced with a very tough choice. I work for Horizon now and they own Losi. A deal could soon be in front of me to run for Losi. So do I stay with a car I feel very good with, that being the NB48 or go with a team deal and run Losi. |
Depends what type of deal - something like 100% it's kinda a no brainer, or we talking more like 20% discount?
|
Only Drake,Mayfield and other top level drivers can get things cheaper then me lol.
I know I wont get that deal with Tekno. Wouldnt even bother trying for that LOL. Im not that good. I just wish Horizon was the distributor for Tekno!! |

Yep,Its a bitch. I havent had a tire do that in a long time. But I glued these up in the morning and ran them for the main. I NEVER do that. I rather do it at home, scuff the rim and make sure everything is clean.
