Here is an email from a Tekno rep. Hello, We were running the proline shockwave pre-mounts from proline. As far as electronics we were using the Tekin RX8 Gen2 with the 2250KV motor and a 15 tooth pinion. The 2200KV with the castle Mamba Monster or Mamba X is also a great choice and should also be ran on a 15-16 tooth pinion. Servo is up to you but I would want something with above 300oz @ 7.4v with a speed of under .15 @ 7.4v. We used a 4s lipo battery to power our kits in the video as well. Hope this helps! I think the proline shockwaves are these: Proline Shockwave 3.8" Mounted (#1193-13) with dimensions of 6" (152mm) tall x 3.35" (85mm) wide The description says they are lighter weight. I couldn't find if they were a medium compound. I'm assuming they are. This should be a link to them if anyone wants to check them out. https://www.prolineracing.com/tires/...tires-mounted/ I say utilize the travel we have and mount up some MAN TIRES. mx38's or trenchers, mashers, etc! |
Hi guys, it's a roller now! It is really nice building a kit like this up from scratch. My last couple of cars were all RTRs and the design, materials and feel of this Tekno kit really do make it stand out. The A-arms look and feel very beefy and the slim machined chassis is just incredibly sexy! :). As many others have already built and shared most details, I'll only add the stuff I thought was noteworthy or where I was stubborn enough not to follow the directions.
Pic overload below :). http://www.rctech.net/forum/members/...3-img-1516.jpg http://www.rctech.net/forum/members/...erender-89.jpg Next to the street beast-mode 8ight-T. http://www.rctech.net/forum/members/...erender-79.jpg Comparision of Losi HD diff cup (left) vs Tekno (right). http://www.rctech.net/forum/members/...erender-84.jpg Part numbers. Doc,
Nice work and thanks for the tips. Even my truck body I think the body posts are too far out. For me, I would run the bug body even as good as it looks. I don't see it lasting with the posts that far out on key strength areas. |
All done just need a break in the weather for a maiden run.

Looks good CMB!
Here's my latest. Tried getting creative around the house. No broken parts

Do they rub the sides or anything? |

Looks like you are using Thunder Tiger MT4 G3 Tires. Just wondering if you need extenders to use those?
Do they rub the sides or anything? No extenders yet, at full lock they have a hair over and inch of clearance to the body. I ran them on my Losi 8 and they ballon pretty bad like most do but I have extenders in the parts bin Incase they reach out and grab the body. Weather is still not cooperating so haven't maiden yet. |
These are cheap and might be interesting to use for a speed run.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LPR-Wheels-O...UAAOSwxg5XywCy I'm not sure how much more use anyone would get out of them. They are fairly cheap. They might explode on the first run :) |
Hey DR T.
Do you have a link to those tires you are using? They look like big fangs. I found these on nitrorcx http://www.nitrorcx.com/mad-wc1014.html They don't have the height and width of the tire on the website. Would you care to measure them (outside diameter and width) and weigh them if possible? |
Crap!
I think the kit doesn't come with Green slime or Pro Tek Premier Blue O Ring Grease. I don't have those two things. Do I need to order them? Or will super lube work? |

Great all around tire. |

Cool. Can you use Super Lube on the shock shafts too?

I did, but only for the build. I wouldn't leave a lot on them, as it would attract dirt, imo.
