For M96, I find the car drives better when I can get lower ride height in the rear, so well used radials (no pattern left) or new slicks.

I have heard the same as you, but when we get a new track layout that is dusty and dirty, the compounds don't act the same.
haha. What’s up dude

I’ll have to try the smaller diameter for the 96. I do like running the radials better so far on the big layouts. Only gripe would be that I like to true my tires and can’t do much with the radial without taking all the tread off. You are correct too. Track condition can completely change how the tires would normally react. Part of the fun

Locally now that there are 1/10 and 1/12 drivers running 1/28 cars, they are using tire combos that are definitely not standard and still going fast.

Getting a car that you can drive consistently is the biggest advantage. In the box stock class radials are being used to get that higher rollout, but does it matter if they are in the wall every lap?

Had a question, saw pictures on the Facepage group of people using tape on the side rails. Are many people using that? Or is it allowed? I don't remember anything in the rules specifically speaking about it. It would be a help I'm sure but I've never wanted to use it just because I like to change layouts and it seems like it would be a pain, but maybe it isn't too bad to be peeling that stuff off constantly?

I also thought it wasn't allowed...

Default September Results!!

Mini96 September Results

Well my first full month participating in the Mini96 challenge is in the books. Head out today for a 5 day work trip. Last night I put in some runs taken this month’s total laps to 11,013 but couldn’t beat my times from earlier in the month. A couple things that came out of last night was a new fast lap with my 3500 2WD Open @ 3.429. Also with that allowed for a new top three consecutive @ 10.545. Fastest single lap for box stock was a 3.589 with a 11.062 top 3. I really wanted to get my box stock car under 300 and had several runs with a pace below that more than half way thru but 75 laps doing that is hard. I don’t think I will be able to get it this month because so far I feel terrible going CCW. Brought the cars with me on this trip to freshen them up and be ready to throw down some laps Friday night! Thanks to all the guys in this group to bounce ideas off of to push each other!

Notes- In under the wire! Had a great run going and then the rear wheel fell off. Had to scramble to get another started. This car can go faster but I was having problems, had been running PN KSM tires and then tonight couldn't keep it from traction rolling so I had to go back to Kyosho. Got the motor mount to try something new, this might go back to being the Pro Stock car, not sure yet. Tinkering is almost more fun than racing.

Notes - Tried the wide front end with 0 offset wheels and maybe like it better? Read way back into the Mini Z thread and someone recommended it so I gave it a shot. Got lucky sticking the landing on a barrel roll or two. Stay out of the wall and this car is a lot of fun to drive, just tricky!

Sadly no results for Pro Stock. Really struggled driving the Evo (MR03 5600) on the tight track. It was way more fun when I had a bigger track set up. And then tonight the motor failed. Seems like something came loose inside it? The rotor is catching on something. Don't know how often that happens but kind of sucks. I had some runs but it was a week or two ago and wasn't fast so I'm going to skip that one for now.
