Android users have any of u found a lap counter that is accurate. On the last layout I was able to put my phone in a spot where I would get a good read where if I bump a board in a different location it wouldnt set it off. Now with this layout I graze the inside straight anywhere it sets the counter of because it uses motion. I was able to get 1 race last night where I had no issues then next 1 everytime I tapped the board a certain way it went off making the race pretty much void.i will say this layout I was able to get as low as a 4.45 second lap

Starting to get a bit more Consistency but still not fast, I switched over to a 599XX body from the 458 and I like it but I am still getting some hopping if I am not smooth so I need to work on either getting smoother or tuning out the hopping....or both. I like the track, I like the longer straights both entering and exiting the big straight but I think you can be lulled into driving a lot more distance, As I get better at the track I will figure that out. I am still 15 second off the race pace from the last track but that will come....this was far from a clean run.

I’m disappointed you’re staying on the rough side. I’m sticking with the smooth side since that is what all the tracks around me run on. I’ll compare my lap times to yours, but won’t be posting them since they are not comparable.

T2,
i am afraid I did not get one new person saying they would join us if we changed surfaces. At some point we will switch to the smooth side.

With th that said even with out the times being comparable I am sure it is good practice changing up the tracks.

I got got a bunch of untimed laps in this afternoon and am starting to feel pretty good on the new circuit.

Cheers,
Jim

After fixing the plastic rear pod that broke by the axle holder the car is a lot better....Go figure. I went to a Kyosho 10mm wide G10 rear T-Plate and the car feels great and I lost the hopping. I am loving my new 599XX body, it looks fantastic and I like the way it drives. Once I get start to get consistent number I will put the 458 body on it and see how they compare. As you can tell I am getting more comfortable with the lay and the times are dropping quickly.

Got my Stock car into the 3's but just barely....I have to say the new cells have woken up the PN70 a lot and the thing feels like a beast now. It is tough going from my Box Stock car to my stock car because you need to drive them so differently, my Stock car is 90mm and running a rear mount so you have very little steering on throttle so I have to concentrate on getting the car turned and then hitting the throttle.

As you noticed I am trying a new way of posting. I am editing my time posts for each new run so that I can see my progress, I decided to keep my latest run on the top so that if you are not interested in all of the old times you do not have to wade through them all. I am thinking this will work well but time will tell.

Cheers,
Jim

I've got a race this weekend, so I won't be back to the Mini-96 challenge until sometime next week, and I don't want to clutter up this thread with posts of race results that aren't comparable, so I guess I'll wait until they go to the smooth side to participate.

Hello All,
I got in a lot of laps last night with my Pro-Stock car. As I mentioned I has having some major issued getting my Pro-Sock car (102mm, 787 body) to make fast consistent laps, the car felt like it did not want to turn and then the rear felt very loose, it was basically all over the road. I think a lot of these issues stemmed from the new found power from the new cells and me just over driving the car. Once I just slowed down the car got better but was still not great and I was still battling a very loose rear end. The PN KS Soft rears were pretty worn so I was wondering if it was the tires so swapped them out and I am not sure if I saw an improvement, maybe a tiny bit. I tried a couple different T-plates and ended up going back to the what I started with and then I swapped out the top dampener spring going from blue to green and that helped a bit. I ran another bunch of laps and the car was feeling better but still felt off in directional stability so I swapped out the tie bar from a +4 to a +6 and that helped and the car was more consistent. I did a couple more runs and the car was OK but now I had more understeer then I like so I went back to the blue top spring on the damper and the car was feeling pretty good. At this point I am back to my original set-up with exception of the tie bar.

After all this I proceeded to turn out a run of 385.7s which does not sound all that fast but my timer missed two laps so I was actually down into the high 37X second time with a new lap record for me of 4.58s. I really think the new batteries threw me off and make the car a lot more difficult to drive, I was just not use to having to control the amount of wheel spin that is possible coming out of turns and that was getting the better of me, once I tried slowing down I was turning consistent sub 5 second laps and stayed on my marks, at one point in a practice run I had 7 consecutive laps at 4.91s so I can be pretty consistent with the car at this point.

Cheers,
Jim

If your pro-stock has a 48t motor, that's a lot of power for a Mini-96 layout. I think I was faster with my white end bell stock car on the June layout than with my faster cars. Easier to drive the slow car more consistently...

That is proving to be the case.....With the old abused cells it was fine but with the new cells the car is a bit unruly to say the least. My PN70 powered stock car on the new cells feels like what my Pro-Stock car felt like on the old cells and the Pro-Stock car is a now a tire shredding beast. If I stay focused and do not over drive the Pro Stock car I am fine and when I get it right I can do some really fast laps but when it goes wrong it takes me a lap or two to get back in the rhythm. With that said I I bet by the end of the month I will do a 375s stint and get a fast lap in the very low 4.5's. I have to say it while it can be frustrating at times it is also fun driving a car with that much power.

Cheers,
Jim
