Thanks B18C...I appreciate the clarification.
I have purchased a tweak station through ebay which will not get here quite as soon as I need it (for the state titles) so in the meantime I have purchased 4 digital pocket scales to put 1 under each wheel, to balance the car that way. Sure it's not the same but better than nothing! Should I aim for 50:50 front and rear weight distribution as a starting point? Thanks, Steve |
what your describing is corner balancing, thats pretty slick! do you have a photo of that setup with your car on it? i'd love to see it:D

No photos as yet, as the scales haven't arrived! The scales were cheap (ie $55 AUD all up delivered) and will arrive by post tomorrow. Each scale has a 500gm capacity and is apparently accurate to 0.1g, although I'm not sure how true this is given how cheap each scale is. However I will weigh something of a fixed weight on each scale, and if the readings are within a gram or so, that's plenty accurate!
I will take a pic once the scales have arrived. As for weight distribution, should it be 50/50 front and rear, or more bias towards one end? |

Guys,
I debuted the 'new' Evo 4 at the Victorian state titles, and didn't do too well actually...however it was due to both my lack of experience with touring cars and not having a chance to dial it in. However towards the end of the race meeting I started to get familiar with the car and can see it's quick. But I need some help...what is a good starting point as a setup on outdoor asphalt (ie droop etc) I found the car was oversteering on powering out of exits. Could someone give me a very basic rundown on droop..ie increasing droop is actually lowering the car if I'm not mistaken, and what effect does decreasing/increasing droop front and rear. Sorry for the questions guys, and thanks in advance. Cheers, Steve |

I think it should fit with using the Oneway Gear form the EvoIV. I am using a Evo4 spool with a litle mod. in my Evo5. I sanded a little the mounting area of the Gear, because the mesh of them was a little to thigt. I the other way (Evo5/TB03 in a Evo4) with the right shimming, i think it should fit also. Thanks Blueman,
I need an evo IV spool to fit in my 414M ( I'm told this is the one to get). But if there is another spool that will work I'm all for it. Cheerz |
Isn't the 415 spool the same for the 414?

Looking to get an Evo IV
Warmest regards forum. I'm interested in getting into touring cars and have been looking at several kits to build. I've been into trucks and buggies for a while but would like to make the switch to on road. I have found some pretty good deals on TB Evolutions IV's on the internet and was wondering how easy it would be to get parts for one if and when they break. Any suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

I have a Tamiya Evolution IV that I just got recently with a Castle Creations Sidewinder 4600kv Brushless System.
I want to gear it better but I don't know where to start. What pinion should I use? Will I need to change the spur gear? Any suggestion or if anyone has my setup please let me know how you geared it. Thank you. |
When considering an Evolution IV, what spare parts might one also consider? I have a feeling my local hobby shop doesn't carry Evo parts and these would have to be ordered before race day. What parts should I keep on hand?
