spur gear: 96
pinion gear: 32
motor: epic roar legal stock / monster pro

What have you guys found that works well...

Thanks,

Peter

on our local track.. (130ft straight)

monster pro: 7.1 - 7.3
epic stock: 7.59 - 7.8 (maybe even 8.1 depending on the motor)

7.10 = 96/31
7.34 = 96/30
7.59 = 96/29
7.86 = 96/28

hope that helps. my last official post on the evoIV thread. :cry:

is there an atlas thread yet? :sneaky: :lol: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:

buy an EA Motorsports epic stock or monster pro with the f-brushes. you wont have any problems then. ;) :sneaky: :nod:

im curious now.. what do you gear your stock motors at?

Chazz 02-15-2005 01:51 PM

At the moment i'm runnin about 25/69 (tc4/tc3) indoors which is about 6.9 and outdoors,i'll run 28+/69 which is about 6.16 :nod: , which is about the normal gearing i run :tire: (and the tracks are kinda big)

thanks, for all the info I'll try it our next time at the track....

as a foot note our track length is 90 feet by 50 feet and the stock motor we use is a 27turn.

Thanks,

Peter

stock in asia is 23T, which is like a 19T and geared taller in the 5's and low 6's. stock in north america is 27T, which has less torque with more RPM, and geared at 6's and 7's.

My god you guys are gearing the Monster Stocks high!!! Don't know how you guys intend on winning at that high, but I guess your track must be uber short.

At our race track, we've seen ratios (depending on chassis) waver between as low as 5.7 to as high as 6.6. I personally think that around the 6.4 spot is a great place to start and if you are on a massive track like a Gas track (our Summer Nationals were held on a MASSIVE track and I was geared with a rollout of about 35mm = ~5.3-5.5 gear ratio) then you'll wanna delve into the 5s. I think that the kit gearing of 96/34 is a great spot to start, gives 6.48 if my memory serves me right. Start with around there and the laptimes should tumble, unless you are on a super tight track.

the three tracks i race at do not have very long straights and they are meant for 1/10th scale cars...

tamiya USA - 110ft straight w/sweeper
la mirada - 130ft straight w/sweeper
socal raceway - 80-110ft depending on layout.

there are monster size tracks here like revelation built for 1/8th gas cars.. but 27T electric isnt raced there. :D

We, in Australia, run to ROAR rules so 27t is what we use here. My motors of choice are EA Motors and F-Brushes. By far the best combination out there for stock racing.
