The Trans gear covers don't come with the Evo IV MS. Only select hopups were in the kit, and the Trans gear covers are becoming mroe limited as each month goes by.

i think he was talking about the transmission cases, and referring to the 1-piece design?
i think the 1-piece cases will help the rigidity of the car, and have less headaches with tweak..... |
Sorry for the confusion. I was talking about the one peice bulkheads. I already have a set of the clear transmission covers that are waiting to go on the car.
Has anyone heard about the release date yet. I know it's anyday now, but the waiting is killing me! |

Someone suggested on this thread that in order to fit 28 mm foams in the front, a perfect replacement would be the R/C Square aluminum castor block. Does anyone know what needs to be replaced in the rear if I were to put 30mm foams? Or would they just fit easily?

MS Shakedown
Well after about 12 packs through the Evo4 MS and quite a few taps on the boards... I can finally say that this car is a Bit quicker with the set up that comes out the box..and it is less prone to chassis tweak with the new bulkheads .....THe new bulkheads also do not pinch the bearings like the Older Bulkheads... One other small change that I noticed is that the Battery slots are ever so slightly spaced further apart... (GP3700/IB3800 cells)... but it might just be me but they fit better in the chassis than they do with the normal EVO4 chassis ..even though they have the same part #..??:weird:  ..
anyways this car will get more batteries through it next weekend... more to come:sneaky: -Dave:sneaky: |
Sounds cool. I just sold my Evo IV to one of my best mates. Off to getting a 415MS now for top Mod Running.  Well..... that's the plan.

Hey guys, need some advice. I have an Evo 4 that I can't sell, so I've decided to just build it. What are the essential hop-ups for it (Besides the aluminum rear hubs, I have those already). Looking at speedtech.com, looks like there's 1-piece lightened front and rear input shafts, the MS bulkheads/gearcases, and the aluminum one-way gear. Anything else?
|
I'd also get the aluminum drive cups as the plastic ones will split in a crash. And also the lightened main shaft.
|
Those are the one-piece input shafts, aren't they? or are they something different?
|
Yes, they are essential. I'd also get rid of the carbon steering plate and make a turnbuckle solution, improves reliability and ackerman adjustability too. The front c hubs and uprights are also good, made by Square. Besides that, I think that you will be fine! :D

Oh, forgot to mention, this car will only be run in TCS races, so I can only use Tamiya parts. Also cannot re-engineer the chassis in anyway, such as a different steering rack.

All you need is the sway bar set and a bunch of the toe blocks...and if you can bribe someone for the clear/smoked/transparent blue gear cases...then you would be all set. My Evo4 is proving to be an amazing rubber tire on carpet car. No real runs on asphalt yet. |
:) I have a set of clear ones on the way :)
