I tried again last night, but it would just beep forever.

So what are you doing to make sure you're putting enough charge in the 1S LiPO for storage? Maybe I should just be asking what's the best way to make sure I'm putting in 60% charge? I won't be at the track until Oct when the carpet is laid down so I need to store them until then.

A local tried that speedo. For some reason it would just stop when ever it wanted. Completely random when it did it too.

And that may be an option depending on what is available at the race. But the conversation was more specifically discussing the Jaco orange tire. Also the CRC tires are significantly more expensive then Jaco. I do prefer the CRC rim but at 30% more expensive I usually end up buying Jaco.

I must be lucky. CRC's are only a $1 more a pair then Jaco at my LHS. I prefur crc rubber. Way smoother and more consistant.

Either that or your paying more for Jacos...Stormer has Jacos for $10 a pair where CRCs are $13 for fronts and $14 for rears. That's an average of 35% more expensive...quite a chunk. If CRCs are $11 a pair at IIC like I found at Snowbirds I will probably run them.

I am just discharging them down to 3.4 v cut off if I plan on storing them.

Thanks for all the info on where to get the oranges compound, but after talking to another racer and contacting one of the resources provided it seems that unless your're an IIC participant the chances of obtaining these are slim. It would appear the these have been made availible in limited quantities to select racers/stores for use at IIC and will not be avalible to the masses untill after the race. Sad and unfair but not uncommon in RC racing.

OK...PLEASE "listen" carefully.

I already said this once, but in kind of a "roundabout" way. If you're not going to use the battery for a month or two (which it sounds like is your situation) don't worry about any sort of "storage" charge. As far as LiPo's go that is not a particularly long time. DON'T WORRY ABOUT A STORAGE CHARGE.

IF you are dead set on unneccessarily putting a "storage charge" in your batteries, all the "storage" routine is probably doing is charging the battery to somewhere around half capacity which is what everybody seems to recommend for "storage" (like 6 months to a year or more). To emulate this go ahead and discharge your battery down to 3v cutoff (assuming single cell). Now look at your battery and look at your charger. IF, for example, you use a SMC 4000mah battery you can put half charge in by setting your charger to 4 amps and timing the charge so it charges for 1/2 hour (thirty minutes). If you set your charger at 2 amps charge it for an hour. This will give you a half charge.

If you DON'T happen to use a 4000 mah battery try this. Read the mah rating (whatever it is). Divide that number by 1000. Whatever number you're left with is the number of amps that will give you a 1C charge rate (the only recommended rate for these). Charge at that rate for 1/2 hour. If you charge at half that, double the time.

Etc.

You're getting wound about nothing.

Hey Chris,

You can make you own grey lows, Just pick up a grey rear donut and cut alittle off the end of the rim, Glue them and trun them down. You can get the donuts from CRC or Stormers Hobbies

Hope this helps
Mike

Wingracer said in an earlier post, get a hold of Debbies RC World if you really want these orange Jacos.

In March and April we finished our 1/12 season there and there were dozens of packs available. Indoor racing has been virtually non-existent there since then and won't pick up until it gets cold again so, they should have plenty.

I really don't think these are or were some kind of "special tire" not available to the masses. I think most places just didn't pick up on them.
