Burito...or any other racers...,I am running in a rcgt 1.5 hour enduro using a x12 17.5 and a spx. currently geared at 6.0 and profile 6 with the stock motor timing.
Any recommendations to help me run the whole 1.5 hours with-out cooking anything. Thanks, Fat
i normally gear at 5.6 for a regular 8 min race.

Everything your propose sounds ok. Just add a fan and good air flow to the motor and you should be ok.

Are there any dyno charts for these?

EAMotorsports, would you mind to post these or email these to me? Thank you!

They are about 2-3 points lower on eff than the others. Other than that they blow away the others currently available. They are closest on the -10 setting to the Duo based motors. I ran today with the -5 and 0 plug. I think they were best with the -5.

Dont be afraid to let them get a little hotter too. THey dont mind the heat!

Default Vector 12 5.5T Bearing Blown

Greetings Everybody.

Wow this time it happened to me and I did kept an eye on the bearings. As Verndog mentioned in a few months back, I have a X12 5.5T with just around 10 races on it. I kept it oiled after each race day in the past two months.

Racing my 1/12th (with sphere tc spec profile 1) this past monday, motor was running fine and I actually placed 2nd in that race, the motor cap bearing just blew up, damaging the rotor and the case internals.

I have the receipt, box and everything for when I bought the motor from amain this past nov 2009. Could someone please enlight me as where to go to see if there is something LRP can do for me? Support or warranty wise.

Any help will be much appreciated. I love that motor, too bad it just blew the bearing =(

Thanks,
~Albert

PD: Sorry for my english.
Forgot to mention pinion/spur on the 12R5 was 24/96.

I know your not supposed to use profile 7 or 8..... But I'm a sucker for it.

It was slightly faster than another competitive driver running a ballistic (I believe) and Tekin with Vegas 200, and good out of the turns. There is also the caveat that I was running a shaftie (Evo V MS).

I still don't feel this is the "best" set-up, but it should be a good start. This was rubber tire TC on carpet.

Has anyone found the G spot yet for this combo (SPX and X-12 17.5) ? I've played around with a ton of variations as I too have the problem of fast initial laps and a significant drop in speed. I'm running a Cyclone TC, rubber tires on asphalt. The best so far has been per Mike's recommendation above ... 2-7-1-1, 4 dot, and a 5.56 FDR. Though the drop off is less I still feel this motor and ESC should be capable of more top end and be able to keep it through the run. I've tried the below and every one of them suffers from the drop off (temps never exceeded 170F even the few times on profile 8).

2-7-1-1, 2 dot, FDR 5.56 through 6.02
2-6-1-1, 2 dot, FDR 5.56 through 6.02 (no real drop, just slow)
2-7-1-1, 3 dot, FDR 5.56 through 6.02
2-7-1-1, 4 dot, FDR 5.56 through 6.19

Throughout testing, I also tried profile 8 a few times with the 3 and 4 dot but never really saw any improvement to speed or the drop off issue.

I suppose I could try the 3 dot and profile 6 as mentioned above, but I just don't see how this will be any faster. May be more consistent I guess but there has to be a sweet spot that I'm missing. Am I way off on the FDR range this motor should like ?

Prior to the X-12 I was using a Novak SS 17.5 (stock timing) at 2-8-2-3 and a FDR of 3.7. I swear this combo was faster and did not suffer the drop off. Does anyone know why this drop is occuring ? Can it be related to batteries ? I'm using Orion 3800 30C's.

Any help to this mystery is greatly appreciated !

Default MAX RPM

Whats the recommended max RPM for the X12 10.5t Stock Spec motor? I'm seeing a little over 50,000 RPM on a long straight... temps are under 80C but be nice to know at what RPM the rotor shatters

OK Hows the power band on this LRP X.12 Motor (17.5 or 13.5) I will mainly use it for TC.... And what is the Stock Timing this motor have. I have been reading it has a really high timing and tends to over heat.....

I'm running MMP with Ballistic motor... and one of the guy that I race with yesterday run LRP X.12 and he have a little more top end than the ballistic....

well...my faith in this motor has been restored. I finally ran into a local who is a top racer and had several x12 motors in his cars. He told me the hot setup for 17.5 is the 4 dot insert(-10 timing) and geared around 6.0 to start. Profile 7 on my spx. WOW this thing came to life...running with the epics now(I almost bought a duo2 if this x12 did not do)BUT IT did
I finally settled in at 6.3 fdr for 17.5 touring. My old x11 17.5 was geared at 5.4 to compare the 2.
comes off the track at 158-161deg for a 8min run.
I am keeping mine
Who would have ever thought to run neg timing in these motors as you run pos in every motor in town.
It has tons of built in timing stock

Hi, i need help with the final gear for a 4.0 and 3.5 octa wing X12 for a long track with 50C lipo.

Will the octa wing in a 3.5 make a big diference in track to the x12 3.5 normal?

Witch one should i use for a long track, 4.0 or a 3.5 octa wing?

And the speedo set up?

Thanks.

Hey guys I just got an LRP X12 17.5 stock spec motor and before i even turned it on or ran it i noticed the rotor where the pinion goes on is slightly bent around 1mm wobble, ive tried multiple new pinions and spurs and even in a different car! its the rotor for sure , plus it makes a hyou can hear it some times going down the straight. i assume its not good for the motor or getting max rpm's either

I got the motor from a U.S. retailer but i live in Australia & shipping is most likly the same cost as a new rotor. & becuase i was hanging out to race i ran it, so i assume my warranty chances are gone?

Also was mainly wanting to know if anyone else has had this with there motor.
