Actually, you can put it on the other side part way on the chassis and blow it back over the motor at an angle as done by none other than Troy McKune.

Default Side dampener design

I'm sure this has been brought up but, has anyone tried putting front axle springs inside the side dampener tubes on a car with two tubes in order to get rid of the side springs? I just bring this up because I've recently had springs come off in a race and thought of it as a possible solution. I've got a 2016 XRay X1 and thought that using front springs in there might be an option.

I've seen it done for the Zen in GT12 and it does work.

Full throttle motorsports had them on there ftr12 but it was a t-plate car, i think the tubes were made by irs but could be wrong. The only issue i can see would be that you would not be able to set tweak.

Oh, yes Roelof. Sorry I should have checked which post I quoted. Thanks for the pics, it looks like fun. I've never driven an F1 RC car in the wet (electronics I have are not waterproof).

Also great to see Serpents represented

Great point that I didn't think of. I think if it had a screw incorporated into it, it would give it some adjustment in and out to allow for tweak adjustments.
I'm going to look into making a set that would allow for changing the length so the tweak could be set too.
I'll post up when I have something. I have some ideas, I just need to be home to do it now. (I travel for work a lot)

I am putting a parts list together and have been able to find most of the major components that I want to buy are available through major USA distribution (Tower Hobbies/Great Planes/Hobbico).

Here are the parts I need that I have a few questions on...
- Rear axle spacer
This is the spacer that goes on the left side of the axle. Has anyone ever made their own custom spacer? What materials did you use?

- Front steering knuckles/kingpins.
It looks like they are currently out of stock, even on Tamiyausa.com. Other than aftermarket options which are available, are there any other kits that use similar parts (like the Tamiya 1/12 scale on-road cars?)

- Center Damper/Shock.
Would a shock for a Tamiya M-chassis car work? I have a few extra shocks, but I'm not sure if the shock shaft would be long enough.

Thanks for any help/advice.
I can tell you that the old Tamiya Hornet/grasshopper front kingpin/steering knuckle will fit a Tamiya F104 front end. I had a set in my box from the 80's and when I broke the original one, I tried it on a whim. Worked perfectly.

We used the Ride XR tires, it was the tire that you needed to use during this event. It was allowed to use a new set in the wet conditions.
