Tamiya mini cooper

If I recall, a lot of guys are using the diff designed for the TA03 and having good results.

I would love to run my mini like that, however since the roll cage is an integral part of the car and not listed as an optional part, has to be built as per instructions.
You see alot of pictures of the MO5 in Asia run and built that way. All of last years TCS winning MO5's look nothing like what we run.
I still might try it out and see if I like it or not. It is the way to go if you run mini at TITC.
Later,
Calvin.

Also, I've got a spare Hitec servo that I want to put into this car. What servo savers are you guys all using? In the kit Tamiya only provide 23 and 25 spline attachments, but to my understanding Hitec is 24 spline?
Thanks.
Thanks.

You might be able to adapt a Kimbrough servo saver to suit your car.
Personally I would find a Futaba or Sanwa servo to run in the car.

I have found the TAO3 ball diff to work in the MO3, MO4, MO5 and MO6. Just in the rear wheel cars I haven't tightened it like I do for my FWD cars.
To me the MO5 ball diff is of higher maintenance if you want to crank it tight as you have to use different Tamiya bits, so that it stays tight. If built correctly these work very well, especially with the hardened diff outdrives from the MO5Ra.
The 3Racing ball diff can also be made to work well and be durable.
Some others prefer the gear diff with a couple of extra washers and or special building techniques which make these tight. The new hardened gear diff being released mid January and that comes with the MO6 Pro is a bit tighter when built than the old white gear diff. This will come with hardened gearbox gears. I am currently using in a MO5 that I have started building.
For servo's, I have previously used Hitec in my mini, but found them toc ause me problems and have since moved to Futaba digital servo's which I now prefer, so I agree with sosidge on this point. On my Mo5 Pro and MO6 Pro I have used the provided Tamiya servo saver with no problems. If I had issues I would use a small Kimborough servo saver.
Just my opinion.

Will these batteries fit in the mini? http://www.hobbypartz.com/83p-5000mah-2s1p-74-20c.html
Moreover, the Tamiya Mini is one of the few vehicles where I would insist on using hard case lipos due to the position of the battery.
Yeah Racing and ACEpower make a lovely little 2S 3200mah 20c Lipo that is very inexpensive and does a fine job.
Intellect make a nice 2S 4000mah 20c and for a few dollars more a 2S 4200mah 40c.

I doubt that battery would fit. It looks a little wide.

Here are some rounded or stick pack lipos. Venom makes some also. Reedy, Orion and others make hard case stick pack lipos.

I think Team Epic handle the Intellect batteries in the US.

Hi first post on here..
Been out of rc for a while untill i bought my nephew a m05 for xmas, now he has pushed me to remove the dust from my minis, an return to the sport.
I have set his car up the same as my two m03l's, ta03 ball diff, oil shocks, but now looking for some handy hints for m05l set up as i have noticed lots of things have changed since i last raced..Motor combos,batteries,dsm2!!! WOW!! Where have i been!!
So is this 13t ezrun brushless option the way to go in sydney for racing/reliability an to keep cost down??An lipos batteries? As i have never used these before just, sport tuned motors an nimh batteries..
Hope someone can give us some advice so i can get my nephew an myself back to the track an have fast reliable cars to race..
Great to see this sport is headed in the right direction.
