Charts for Quick reference:

1) put inner bearing in hub
2) slide large shim over axle all the way up to the back of the axle
3) slide axle/bone into hub carrier
4) slide small shim onto axle through hub carrier
5) push outter bearing into hub carrier

using that i'm able to put my normal male silverback gorilla wheel nut tightening job and there's no binding. in the pictures that come with the shims (the pic socket posted) it seems like they want you to slide both shims onto the axle before sliding the axle into the hub carrier and like i said, that doesn't work.

I've traditionally done the diff screw head on the left side (driver's side), but have since switched to the Right side (passenger side) regardless of transmission type (3 gear RM vs 3 gear MM and 4 gear MM).

Kdub (Kurt Wenger, former AE designer) had this to say on the matter:

The right rear is the way the AE manuals state (or used to state). It really shouldn't matter since you go around turns both left and right.

I put my foams in balloons and then fill them with helium. Once the balloon doesn't stay afloat anymore, you know the helium has soaked in and saturated the foam. Fool proof method.

B6, sounds like a really high traction type of track where you would run low ride height and stiff suspension w/ gear diff.

The site is jumping all over the place for dates...I wouldn't worry about it right now. I didn't order until mid-may and was told by tower that I should be fine to get a first batch run. Amain told me that they have double the amt of pre-orders coming. They aren't getting them until the 13th though for some reason. Tower looks to already have some.

No...They're packing up a box with a card inside that says "you'll have to wait until the 13th like everyone else"

Finally was able to order all the laydown conversion parts from AE. I want to have a built laydown/gear diff/slipper/motor plate/chassis brace assembly ready for the once in a blue moon I run on carpet. I can just bolt it in, change shock springs and have a pretty good setup.

I think the standup will be superior on the clay tracks I normally run so I'm setting up my D that way out of the box.

This! And if your LHS happens to also have a track mention this is your first kit and maybe they will throw in some free practice sessions or race entries. At the very least you'll get some free advice!
