I'm not racing yet, but want to.

As long as the speed controller is sensored and has blinky (no-timing) mode, you'll be set for a long time. As you get better, keep bumping up the timing on the motor to the +15 setting and keep an eye on the temperature. I used to run the Vulcan 17.5 and it definitely needed to be bumped up from the stock setting to make more power. I geared it 31/72 on clay, so maybe try 28/72 for carpet since you'll have more traction. Check temps and gear up a tooth at a time.

An old shock tower works also. Save your self the cash.

Any new stuff spotted or reported at the worlds? Have seen no body off shots to tell for myself. Boring and quite from area 51 for awhile now lol

There was new stuff...but nothing reported on.

Running my (built to kit specs) B6 on carpet. The car is pretty dialed but would like to settle the back end down a bit. Our track has very short landings that are pretty steep. If you come up a bit short it pitches the back over (donkey kicks). If I over jump the back will get the hops. Thicker oil? Smaller hole pistons?

What was new?

Rear arms and the gear box were different. But this was the worlds and AE has a habit of not releasing items used in the worlds.

I assumed it was an easy access design to the diff, but that's not something they would need or test at the worlds. Probably something to do with roll center.

My 2 cents? It "looked" like the tower might might have been more rearward. This is based on how lit looked from the rear. The rear arms looked more swept forward and had the 3rd hole.

You can get the quick access lay down gearbox on shapeways. I haven’t bought it yet but have done a bit of research with a couple people who did buy it. Minor fitting issue resolved by sanding. Seems like a good solution. I’ll be trying it myself as I don’t intend on using the stand up tranny anymore. Even in loose loamy conditions I’ve managed to get a good setup with the lay down.

The b5r arm mod works pretty good as well

Cav seems to still use the B5 ball cups, can't tell from any photos I've seen if he runs the angled cups on the steering or if he uses all 'straight' cups...anyone see a pic or knows what he uses?
