We use them for carpet racing, they might be a good idea on certain astro tracks as well. With grip levels lower than that I believe they are not needed.

Iv'e never broken a top deck but I don't use that hole either so it would be a nice option in my case just for looks.

Yes I use those very ones. The cnc work isn't up to hudy, but neither is the price. I also race on carpet, probably no need on clay.

Anyone has successfully put up the mod with yokomo metal bevel gears? Can't believe the xray ones were not released for a year already since their advertising pic...

Any advantage of running the full top deck as opposed to what comes with the kit?

Not sure what it should be like on a dirt track, but on Astro tracks over here in the UK, I found it made the car more consistent at the back end, before it felt like the rear flopped about like a fish on land.
