Official XRAY XB4 Thread (All Years)
Going to start organizing relevant information here on the first post, please be patient. Please feel free to PM me significant information you think should be provided on the first post.

12MM Hex Conversion
BentKa provides a lot of information about the 12mm hex conversions for the XB4, and this info is also relevant to the XB2. Summarized from his original post and the XB2 page below:

All measurement are done on the '16 XB4 using:
  • 20mm ride height (placed on Hudy 20mm droop blocks)
  • 3 degree toe-in in the rear
  • 1 degree toe-out in the front
  • Hinge pin inserts in the middle position front and rear.
  • Measured on the rear of the rear wheels (no tires)
  • Measured on the front of the front wheels (no tires)

Width using stock 14mm wheel hexes and Xray V2 14mm wheels:
  • Front: 245mm
  • Rear: 245mm

Width using 12mm wheel hexes and Xray 12mm wheels:
Front:
  • #365354 -0.75mm = 242mm
  • #365353 0mm = 243,5mm
  • #365355 +0.75mm (1 stripe) = 245mm
  • #365356 +1.5mm (2 stripe) = 246,5mm
  • #365357 +2.25mm (3 stripe) = 248mm
  • #365358 +3.00mm (4 stripe) = Not enough threads on axle to secure the wheel nut.

Rear:
  • #365353 0mm = 243mm
  • #365355 +0.75mm (1 stripe) = 245mm
  • #365356 +1.5mm (2 stripe) = 247mm
  • #365357 +2.25mm (3 stripe) = 249mm
  • #365358 +3.00mm (4 stripe) = 251mm

Here are some measurements of both stock included hexes and the optional hexes:
  • #365354 -0.75mm (2pcs) = 3.8mm
  • #365353 0mm (2pcs) = 4.6mm (XB2 stock front)(same width as standard 14mm wheel hexes)
  • #365355 +0.75mm (1 stripe)(2pcs) = 5.3mm
  • #365356 +1.5mm (2 stripe)(2pcs) = 6.1mm
  • #365357 +2.25mm (3 stripe)(2pcs) = 6.8mm (XB2 stock rear)
  • #365358 +3.00mm (4 stripe)(2pcs) = 7.6mm
  • #365359 +3.75mm (5 stripe)(2pcs) = 8.4mm

The small inner flange that goes towards the bearing are not included in the measurements. This flange adds 0.3mm on all the above numbers.

Most who have gone to the 12mm hexes are using the +0.75mm (#365355) on the front and +1.5mm (#365356) on the rear using standard 12mm rear wheels and TLR 22-4 front wheels which have the same offset as the Xray 12mm front wheels (#369912). Car becomes very stable with this combination.

Exotek Hexes
For comparison, here are the hex widths provided by Exotek:
  • 1409 5mm
  • 1456 7mm
  • 1408 9mm
  • 1410 9.5mm

Notes from Exotek's site on their hex sizes:
1456 makes the rear wheel width about 243mm wide with AE/kyosho style wheels.
1408 makes the rear wheel width about 247mm wide with AE/kyosho style wheels.
1409 makes the front wheel width about 247mm wide with Kysosho 4wd front wheels.
1409 makes the front wheel width about 243mm wide with HPI D413/LOSI 22-4 4wd front wheels.
1410 makes the front wheel width about 243mm wide with B44.2 4wd front wheels.
Per IFMAR, maximum overall width is 250mm.

12* Aluminum Caster Blocks
Many have reported that the 12* caster blocks are a must if you run on carpet or astroturf. I personally have found they make the car too aggressive for low-medium bite clay conditions.

Slipper Assembly
The 2016 manual doesn't do a great job at explaining how to properly assemble the slipper, so here's the way many of us were able to accomplish the build. After installing the spur gear (right side of image), place the slipper pad (#2) and then the aluminum plate (#3) before inserting the ping (#1).

The white car starting first on the grid with a Yoke B-max body is a XB4 driven by Martin Bayer. He won.

I started a new thread because x-ray 4wd sneak is a terrible title. Atleast now when we know what the car is called. And second x-ray is spelled wrong. Should be Xray..

Bummer, I thought it was going to be on a dirt track. He could have raised the ride height on his TC4 and ran it on that track. Let's see it get dirty!

Oh yeah, when will it be available in the states. Can't wait!

I heard that it will be released in November. Here in Europe atleast.
I think it took only 2-3 weeks after T4 (touring car) teaser before release, so i hope this goes for XB4 too..

This car looks sick! Anyone here with experience of Xray products that can give me general info on parts availability or an estimated price of this kit?

There touring cars are priced well in there respective class, and there arguably the toughest on the market.

I'm guessing the price will be in the, "who cares I'm gonna buy it anyway" range.

Guessing around 500$ at least. But knowing xray thats the only thing you going to buy. They are tough as nails and dont slop out for a long long time.
