I am considering switching from the eb48 to the serpent and I have a some questions.

I hear the 2.0 diffs spin more freely and you have to run thicker fluid. How do you guys like them? How much thicker of oil do you have to run?

Is there any common part failures?

How well is the weight distribution? I was thinking about running shorty packs to put more weight towards the front.

How well is the Serpent customer support?

The new diffs require 2000cst more. But just like all, oil depends on your settings and preference.

the car is a beast. most I sell is the rear wing mount 600441 and wing. also if you land forward and upside down you can damage the front tower. Mostly people loose parts when rebuilding or they replace from cosmetic needs

the car is very balanced. if the ramps on your track are nicely shaped then you can run full throttle it flies straight...

I can only speak for myself but I believe I do give a good customer support and I have a massive spare part stock to support users all over teh palnet Earth I speak Turkish and English and their Bad versions

I am still running 1.0 diffs. I have heard some people prefer them to the 2.0, but I am unsure of the details having only run 1.0. I do have 2.0 suspension though.

I have only broken a front chassis support (plastic piece from the chassis to the front diff/top deck) and I crash fairly hard/often. I also got the buggy used and it is holding up extremely well. I have broken wings, but no mounts yet.

The buggy turns extremely well box stock, so running more weight forward would not necessarily be helpful. Running shorty packs is more to reduce the overall weight, as the buggy is pretty heavy in general. Earlier in this thread, someone was using shorty packs, the T8I motor, smaller ESC, and some other things to lessen the weight.

Serpent support from Desoto in FL has been great for me. Chicky is also on here helping with setups and questions not to mention Tough. I find the Serpent vehicle threads to have more helpful advice and less silly drama then many of the others.

I see in your signature you race at RaceEm. I thought a few guy are running this car up there. If not I go there occasionally and you are welcome to try my 2.0.

One thing you could upgrade is the new solid rear shock shafts. It's not necessary, but if you are building from scratch it's not a bad idea to add them.

I prefer the new diffs it's consistency over longer main. The buggy doesn't really need anything mines is stock with serpent cf battery tie downs and aluminum servo mount. I do run Web bladders and csi pistons. My carbon shock tower haven't had any issue's but this depends on your driving skills and track. Serpent kit is solid and drivetrain shafts are made out of spring steel.

Awesome, thank you all! Very good information! What is the scoop on these new rear shock shafts? Also whats the part number? And the diffs sound more like a preference issue. Does the new body come with the kits now or is that an option?

Nexus, if you go to race em this weekend keep and eye out for the guy with the green and white tekno eb48. Thats me. I usually run registration on sundays. Im going to be picking up my new 811 next friday. Any setups for indoor would be awesome too!

One thing that is making me raise a brow is the fact that this 4 year old platform is out of stock. Any rumors of a new platform?

Where? A retailer might be, but Serpent America has them.

Amain shows they are out of stock. I talked Z&M Hobbies (race em's hobby shop) into becoming an authorized dealer. He sent an email but no reply yet. I really hope thats not the case. And if it is i hope they release the new platform asap. Theres nothing i hate more than buying something and having a new version come out right after. i guess i shouldnt be too worried. the new body was just released. so if anything it would be another update. which im perfectly fine with

The 811 be 2.0 came out early 2013 I believe. With them soon releasing their mid motor 2wd buggy and plans announced for a short course. I'm sure there's no plan for a new ebuggy. The 1.0 is still solid.

Joe Sorwell was flying with his 2.0 last night and I believe TQd again at LHR. There were probably 20+ ebuggy entries.

If ZM doesn't sign up you can call Jucha at Strictly RC to order.
