I am still stumped as to why my truck had that mystery issue with the rear not getting power and skipping, but tearing it down and putting it back together mysteriously fixed it. Thanks again on the tips about the quick rear trans removal, so much quicker then how I was doing it before.

The vids are not as epic. It is really bumpy and I was getting seasick while watching it. I did find that the footage my son had with the camera on the top of his truck was much better. I will wade through all of the video to pull out the highlights though. The most clear parts were the slow movement footage like pushing over flipped trucks.

If no rain I will be back out this Sunday.

Hope the mystery skipping doesn't come back.

Great! I'll see you there! Damn all to the video not going so great. But it was a blast. And not a problem. I did it enough to pull hair out, gotta toss out my findings on easier tear downs. See ya soon!

Yes.

Nothing against the basket or pads but I would rather not have to go that route. While it may be the ticket for the fix I would rather try something else here at home. It would be a last resort option. I am looking at how the traxxas revo/slash slipper assembly is set up. I may do something like that.

I am with you. I have no garo or basket. I put a spacer on my top shaft and it works just fine. I'm not even running HT pads and I've torn up 2 idlers. Why would I ever need that basket. (no offense, was a life saver for 90% of us)

I will bolt a sheet of alum to this truck or glue a layer of lead to the bottom of the pan before I spend 100 dollars on that. (God dammit, I know i'm going to eat my words...)

Losi guys are starting to get frustrated at me being able to get inside of them, shoot out and 'gone' on every. corner. hehe... :D They're starting to try and duplicate it with hilarious results. They're great sports though.

Iam sure the were be a FT kit soon.... All the mods do help a lot....

I would rather have a steering rack with more holes for ackermann adjustments than a aluminum center chassis. That is going to be tough to cut a fan hole in too. Not going on my truck.

See? I wouldn't steer you guys wrong.

Unless you are running a 540 motor 5.5 or less I would buy the Mac The Knife clutch basket and run 3 HD pads in it. That's not exactly right. You should run one then too, but you might be able to slide by without it if you run that little motor.

The neat thing about 550's in this truck is they don't heat. You can run 15 minutes in 100 degree temps full punch and the motor comes off like 140 or so. Might be the same reason the truck doesn't use batteries like the other ones do.

I bet Mantis could machine a new steering rack with multiple ackeman holes.:batman:

I think the chassis looks pretty damn sexy. I wonder if they will make a front and rear section as well?

Anybody try those turnigy nano teck batterys???

never say never!!! a little centralized weight will do the truck some good. price wise thats cheap for what it is , a flat aluminum "milled" chassis for any other car is around 100 bux. this pc is if nothing else very nicely machined as well as purposefull. i wouldnt be surprised if it is the final step in losi domination!:sneaky:

Running my castle 550, with Standard pads, standard Slipper (pinned) -

I of course, slip. (that's the point) But it's not enough to super heat the slipper assembly like we were having 300 pages ago. I've blown two idlers with all stock slipper gear. So I really "really" don't believe that a basket is necessary. It allowed for good tunability with the three pads. But if you're pinned, That tuning just went bye bye. If you've got the slipper spaced so it doesn't bottom out of the lip of the topshaft. (check for wear) then the slipper WILL tighten more than enough. I'm at 1mm from flush and I have punch for days. I can go another 6mm and lock the thing down. No way in hell i'm doing that though. The slipper was designed for a reason. The pinned mod makes it work just as intended. (Slipper, Not Decoupled Slipper intention, We know how that turned out. :P)

And the temps: Craig's absolutely right. I'm running 5 packs back to back and my highest temp was 165degrees in 85degree weather. I'm an icecube any other day. The 540 makes me stop and let the truck sit. (i'm a conservative guy)

I use the tekin 4.5 550 motor so I should be fine then. I am hoping the pin mod will help with heat because the motor is not winding out so much. My slipper plates reached 150*F today after a full pack. It was so hot it colored the slipper spring.
