A buddy of mine had the 6040 I believe in his sc10 4x4 and it worked well. not bad for the money and I don't recall any brownout issues but he was running Speed Passion ESCs.

I personally run the JR9100S in pretty much all of my cars. love the speed and torque.

One that you could also look into that is popular with the Tekno guys at least, which since the sc10 4x4 is lighter should work even better is the Hitec 7955TG servo. I use one on my 1/5 savage conversion and it does the job. May even put two in there for some insane steering :)

Thanks WC And Cain. I am currently using the 8mm mod with 4mm on the inner ball stud on high speed 8th scale tracks that are bumpy and it works pretty good. I am going to race at the first event of the Michigan State Championship series at Dirtburners in Livonia Michigan on April 27th which is a short, tight, medium bite indoor track. At this point I plan to increase the ball stud washers a little to gain rear traction on exit if that helps. I will have an evening of training before the event to get it dialed in. I will be running the yellow springs front and rear with 1.2 pistons and select oils for temps since it will still be a little chilly I bet. I have JC Barcodes in Gold and Green as well as a new set of Proline ION MCs to try out. I expect the Novak HavocProSC/4.5t Ballistic combo with a 12t pinion should be enough for this track with a triple VTS slipper set-up. I am running dual shorty packs without much additional weight.

I will post results and experiences as I go through the weekend. I have not raced my SC10 4x4 for a long time but I have been racing 8th scale Nitro a lot in Brazil so I am ready for sure. I will also be racing Nitro Buggy at the same track coming up.

If anyone is at this event look me up. I always love to chat about RC!!!

@tom e
Whenever I made adjustments to the link.. Raising it up on the inside gives me less traction and lets the rear end slide more. Lowering it gjives more traction. I usually raise it up when traction is high and I am traction rolling in sweepers or fast corners. Other than that, I am usually trying to get it as low as possible before the truck starts rolling.

+1, good info. raising the inner link position the first go around on carpet really saved me when traction rolling was an issue.

Great Advice Ryan, thanks. I should therefore start with my current set-up and raise only if I am traction rolling. Sounds like a great plan.

What do you guys recommend for sway bars? I am currently using the 2.2 front and 2.0 rear. I also have 20K front diff and 5K rear diff using the slipper decoupled.

Cain 04-09-2013 01:05 PM

that is from what I recall the sway bar settings I used on indoor carpet. outdoors loose conditions here I was down to 1.8mm front and 1.5mm rear. Again, all track dependent though, if they feel good to you, nothing wrong with going with them.

I done the same thing last week on a medium traction track and picked up 6/10ths a lap. Exotec rear hubs with 4mm spacer outside with nothing on the inside.

A few pages back I reported that I had shredded my spur. And my first thought was that the mesh was off. But after taking a closer look the mystery of the stripped spur has been solved. The three screws that hold the tranny to the motor plate were loose, let the tranny flex (and the spur is connected to the tranny) allowing the mesh to get loose. A while back I rebuilt the tranny using the new diff cases, and there was some slight binding. So I now remember I used thread lock but I didn't crank down the screws because of the bind. Oh well, I hope everyone is checking those tranny screws.

These three screws were loose.

Which caused this.

I just checked mine last night and 2 of them where loose on the back, but the front was good.

Have you guys tried the spektrum branded servos? I was thinking about trying them.

I have a Spektrum 6040 in 2 of my vehicles. Fantastic servo. No glitching or brown out issues. I run Spektrum radio gear and ran this servo along with a Mamba Max Pro esc, again, no issues.
