I know you probably dont want to hear this but that is the advantage to a center dif on outdoor tracks. Your powerband is kicking in mid straight and all the power is going to all four wheels equally thus kicking the rear out. with a dif that extra power is sent to the front wheels and that keeps the rear in check. Only way around this is a good trigger finger, or back the power down.

When the slipper is "slipping" in my config, with the back plate locked, the rear wheels are the ones not getting power right? I hadn't decided on trying the c-diff yet, indoors where I race the truck the most it wasn't really an issue.

Tires

most likely ballooning from the higher speeds......

try this

Belt the inside middle of tire with medical cloth bandage tape ...
bout 3/4 in to 1 in wide....

Also some tires have a reinforce webbing on the inside that helps control the stretching...;)

slipper & overdrive, ect has nothing to do with the problem BTW

I am sure your slipper is not slipping mid straight or it would be too loose everywhere else. and you wouldnt be able to make any jumps. the Cdif works very well indoors too, you can "get away" without it but if you already have it you will be good to go.

You can play around with your droop settings ie more rear droop, less front, how do you have your shocks mounted? you can even use the 3-3 toe block if the track is fairly smooth.

IMO ballooning tires dont necessarily mean you will spin out, if you "band" the tires you will need to go up on your pinion or the truck will be slower by a good amount.

set your truck the bench and see what it does, ive found with the front locker installed the slipper spring doent need to be as tight as you would think. causing the rear to be almost full lock also. im running one in my basher truck and it was often sideways too but its enjoyable for bashing. you could always try the holy grail center diff...if backing the slipper off doesnt help. or remove the locker, I didn't like it on the track.

give the front overdrive pully a shot. outdoors it seemed to really help when traction is med. low. double check your slipper it should not be locked down. nor glazed. both will make the truck drive inconsistant.

O man ! sorry .. Quad pad VTS just kicked in yo

Mike

add the extra pad to your Vts ...

Not that it is gona help the ballooning.....

Will help you mass when coming on to the straight & entering the sweeper...

cus ?????

Ae Quad Pad VTS Controls tire spin like no other .....:batman:

Note :

When the tire's balloon from high speeds ?

Truck is raised up*, floats and cus the ride height is so high?
Any truck can be extremely difficult to drive on big outdoor tracks ......

(*truck is raised up almost a inch )

now you know why belting the tires can help ...

All good points, I think I need to check if any of my tires are contacting the body while ballooning, I noticed more scuff marks after the last race. Maybe I need to raise it as well.

Jstall7543 07-09-2013 01:22 PM

He said he's running the front locker. That reminds me, make sure the tires are all glued good, if you've got a area coming unglued that could be it, also if your running ultra soft tires you might want to switch to the next harder compound to reduce the ballooning some. Hopefully some of the advice given by all of us will solve the problem.

Hmm, is the rear inner tire lifting up?

Reason I ask is that on the Tekno thread there was quite a bit of discussion concerning what they coined as "diff whip".

Looking forward to the Quad Pad Equipped RC8 in the future since it is superior to a 3 diff design ... :sneaky:

Cdif comin at ya, how do my tail lights look?

I run on high speed outdoor tracks every weekend, it has nothing to do with the ballooning unless you have the glue coming undone and actually it kinda sounds like that could be the issue. Or even an insert going bad, have you tried different tires or even rotate the ones you have. In all honesty granted the Cdif would help but it should not be doing this regardless of what you have in the center i just like bustin WC's balls!!

Taking advice from WC about an outdoor track is like asking a dude what having a baby feels like:lol::lol::lol: The tracks he runs on only get up to about 12mph downhill with the wind! different story when you start reaching mid 30's and up!

I have played with body height, lower is better. The higher up the more tippy it feels. tire rub does not matter. All 4 corners of my truck have rubbed though the paint.

That's we're shoe goo is for the paint not to come off

That was the exact problem I had no matter what I did the truck felt very unstable on long fast straights and unfortunately my local track is mostly long fast straights. The best thing that helped me was put in softer springs and thin oil all around, but I still never got it where I liked it enough...came to conclusion this truck must be ran on high grip tracks and speeds under something like 30 mph.

Wouldn't shoe goo cause friction, in turn making the rub affect handling?
