4 poles extra torque only brings more wheel spin compared to the 550.Smoother power always goes faster
specially if traction is less then perfect . Reedy 550 4.5 Dominates the N/w for this very reason.:batman: |

SoCal
Feel a Reedy 4.5 550 is all the motor you can ever need in or outdoors... Not like a 550 has less power then the others , you have the same power or even more then the 4pole.. My main point for you ? the 550 can smoothest makes it easier to drive...:) |

Is it only the reedy 4.5 550 or any 4.5? And if I was gonna.sell one of the pro4's to buy a 4.5 which should I keep?
Still any 550 can( Novak , Tekin , ect ) will bring similar performance .... |
I am done...maybe a pro 4 4600 if I don't like the 4000
Everything sits nice under my Jconcepts overtray and my electronics stay clean even after a day of racing. http://i358.photobucket.com/albums/o...psa01a82dd.jpg Ready to race. http://i358.photobucket.com/albums/o...ps9f3cd712.jpg Any 4 pole motor with a good ESC like the RX8 can easily be adjusted for smoother wheel spin by simply changing your throttle profile for a gradual acceleration so you don't spin out, or by changing your voltage limiter. The RX8 with hotwire allows you to make 2 custom user profiles that allows you complete user customization. Most ESC have settings to control wheel spin and tame down the power going to motor. Don't believe everything you hear on here, especially from members who are known for bad tech. I'd tell you to go around your local track and talk to the guys who have 4 pole motors and other motors so they can give you honest feedback because they know thru actual usage. Not something they heard from someone once upon a time. |
Yeah ae I know what you mean. I just.don't see a big need to have 3 motors for 1 truck. I have the 5.5 550. Pro4 4000 and a brand new pro4 4600. I think I'll just sell the 4600 and buy a 4.5 stator for the 550 and save the rest for later.

A lot of the benefits you will see on a 550 will depend on the rotor you are using as well. From what I recall, it was popular for the motors to originally come with a 12.3 sized rotor. The Reedy uses a 12.5 sized rotor which gives it a bit more torque.
540 sized 4 poles however make more initial torque than the 550s in general. So on tighter tracks where you need quick response, they will work better if you can put the power down. Assuming that just because a motor is more torquey than a 550 does not equate to wheel spin automatically. If that was the case, we wouldn't see guys in a variety of classes liking higher torque rotors. And as has been mentioned, you can tune the punch levels via software. Speed Passions DRRS or whatever its call option does just that and Tekin has those features too. But, I would suggest for anyone questioning, ask around your local track what people are using and see if you can try their setups for a few laps and come to your own conclusions. |

not surprised, there is a reason why he is willing to make that deal lol.

I would love to try the 3300 tekin with a tall gear and maybe some timing vs the 4000

A lot of the SC10 4x4 guys that I know have switched over to the Reedy 4.0. I just odered up a Works Flow and the LRP 4.5. Not sure on the 4.0 so I went with something I knew would work well.
