The chassis brace will also help the body of your truck as well as the belt. I have had the body holes in the rear start tearing up around the edges from hard landings, but dremeling them out a bit in an oval shape front to back will help this also.

I have been reading everything I can to learn as you stated in another thread I figure my best bet is to go to the track and test myself instead of reading and setting up for what works for someone else. I have taken advise on equipment and some toe and camber settings to start with. What I am having the most problems with is figuring out what pinion and spurs to run with what motors. Plan on getting the rcshox diff which appears to include a new spur. I assume with my stock reedy 3500 the stock 14 pinion is OK but want to go to the tekin pro4 4600 maybe. So then I don't want to kill any electronics. A little gun shy after blowing a sc1200-bl with the first 4900 reedy in my t4.1 after 30sec of running though it may have been a fluke ESC. Waiting on replacement. I understand most of the setup stuff but pinon-spur on which motors is killing me. Only a week into this so will figure it out In Time I am sure
Suggest to use advise from someone who has already travel down the road you are using ..... Testing is not a easy thing to do .. When we test ? It take us many days, even weeks as track conditions change and affect results . |

If you do get the RC Shox center diff, PM me as I have some spares for it that I found that I would sell cheap and some other things you may find useful. I would recommend also picking up at least 1 extra spur gear at least just in case from RC Shox. The main thing with the Tekin Pro4 4600kv is to just watch temps and gear reasonably. I would say start with your current pinion and see how temps are after 3 minutes or so. Pay attention to how it feels around the track. You may find you will go down in pinion size depending on how big the track is. Having a selection of pinions works well in this case. Also, larger pinions like a 15t I believe (memory here) may need you to remove them before removing the motor from the mounting plate as they are too big for the opening. One thing you can do, determine what someone else is using for gear at the track. use a speed calculator and find out what there estimated top speed is. Then, plug in your info to try and back track to similar top speed with the gear you want to use. You can then get a ballpark estimate on pinion size that way. http://scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/_top_speed.html good luck. |
I don't think there is a smoother motor out there go 4x than the reedy 550 4.5.
It's a gem for sure |

Torque Curves
540 4 pole has way more torque then a 540 2 pole
550 2 pole has even more torque the a 540 4 pole |
unfortunately, that is not what I saw in actual real world use with the Tekin 550 in several configurations or the Novak 550 (stock rotor, not the 13mm). It is what it is WC, on the extremely tight indoor carpet tracks I run on, torque in king. Guys are running Pro4 style motors in there 2wd stadium trucks to get that instance punch they need over the jumps coming off 180s where you are at a dead stop.
Can't comment on the Reedy however, never seen one used around these parts but doens't mean that it hasn't been. Will have to check around, but the usual "its smooth" nomenclature means "it doesn't have as much instant torque'. |

Same here with the Center Diff ... ;)
If your so expert ? You could prove it works as Cameron ( Mantis best trusted driver) showed me it don't ...:ha: |

As far as the Center diff working, yes, it does. As for Cameron's issues, I talked with him about what really happened, and it was no issue with the Center Diff as you already know but choose to ignore. It is what it is WC.
If there was no issue why did have to remove to get good laps like he did achieve with the VTS.. I drove his truck , watched in person carefully everything he did ... His pit was about 10 ft away from mind ... Up O ! Sounding like another engineer story....;) |

I watched every run he made , had motor or ESC problems a plenty .. Talk to um too ... Told um was not to be disappointed & not to give up the Sc10. But that truck itself was great. No problems with how it drove after he switched the set-up .:D It had great traction , jumped the siszor's just fine ... In fact the truck never miss behaved when I drove it , that was for about 8 or so laps . Told um not to change it ... lets here your story..... But hey ... don't let the truth or your own words get in the way ... |
