SC10 4x4 Thread
How long ago did you buy that combo?
From you pic I see that your esc has the old style (small) capacitor on it and that can be one of the reasons the system is running hot, I'd suggest either contacting Novak and see if they'll upgrade the capacitor on the esc for you or you can purchase one and replace it yourself. You can also ask them about trading it in for a havoc pro sc w/x-drive, cause that would be a better esc for the truck. Also, the motor has adjustable timing on the back of the can and if that is loose or set improperly you can run hot as well. What are your internal settings on the esc?

I'm stuck in "Tacompton" still .....
Could of gone , hotel & parts were all there .
But I got work , a cat & dog & had to pay my tax's on the 15th ...
Two Sc 10 4x4 trucks I built for my teammates are in Dallas though , bet at least one makes the A, hopefully both .....

Honestly I would love to take a look at your truck but since you are a little to far away, the other info I asked you about, gearing, esc settings, motor can timing, radio settings (EPA, dual rates, throttle curve, etc) drive system, belt settings, condition of the belt, etc. will help me understand and give you better advice.
The Gtb2 is an ok esc, internals are similar to the havoc pro. First thing I would do is get the Novak replacement capacitor (item # S5684), take the old one off and put the new one in its place, that should help with some of the heat and power issues. Once I know more about your truck I can help you further set it up. You'll want to have a good soldering station/ iron, minimum of 60 watt and a decent sized tip to do it. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself then see if the local hobby shop can do it.

Cain, Manits, WC, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they are reffering to the pinned rear topshaft kit. You need a top shaft with a hole drilled in it, a pin to fit that hole and a back slipper plate with a grove machined into it to fit over the pin. Locks the slipper together for front and rear drive. Fastlapproducts.net makes one
Yeah I saw that it was the 4x4 slash upgrade kit or whatever they called it (I bought a few of those my self back when they were available)

Then you went back to the 12t gear and it's slow again.
Try a 13 & 14 as advised and keep an eye on the temps to see what the highest gearing is that you can get away with.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think you can go to a different pinion and avoid all the other stuff that people will suggest without knowing the history. Those would be my suggestions as well if I didn't watch this unfold over the past month or so.
Larger cap, yes... but I know you have issues soldering because of your hands and the shop is a long drive from you. So easiest thing for you to try is a new pinion size ordered online.
Hope that helps.
