POP QUIZ, HOT SHOTS!

Since AE has decided it best NOT to offer us dimensions for the O-rings, has anybody found suitable substitutes for the diff outdrives?

One looks like a 5mm OD/1.5mm thick, the other looks like 3.5mm ID 1.5mm thick?

That sound right to y'all?

I believe its Identical to the 2wd diff o-rings...

When I loosen the wheel nuts up it frees up. when you turn one wheel at either end the the other does not rotate liek it should but will with nuts loosened up. It is built exactly per manual. Its like the slot for the pin is too deep allowing the hub to seat too deeply causing the rubbing. Any ideas? Need a fix. Its causing alot of motor heat due to drag.

If it is in the back, more than likely it is the drive pin in the CVD has came out a little and it is hitting the bearing and not letting it go all the way in, just look and see if everything is right back there.---Jerry

IMO, 550's will be the two pole, Sensored, Hot, Heavy and Hungry. (Nov, Tek and yes even Vip) These are very popular with "Pro drivers" that only run 5 minute heats or 5 minute practice sessions with fans mounted all over the place and a 1/8 scale esc to feed the beast.

540's will be a 4-pole, Non-sensored (Castle) that keeps up with the 550's with less heat, less juice and less weight.

:lol::confused: WOW
Tekin Redline SC4X are a 55o Sensor or Sensorless motor, temps on it are actually going to run cooler then a typical 540 motor due to more surface area to keep it cool. They do take a bit more power because of the torque they create. Oh and the next Tekin 550 motor is going to be 4 pole. I run mine with an LRP Sphere Comp TC spec. A 1/10 scale esc.

The Castle 4 pole (1410) is kind of unique to Castle, so it really doesn't compare to most 540 motors. There are a lot of sensored 540 motors out there.

Almost the same here Chris.

I run a Fantom ION3 7.5 w/ no fans on anything, Tekin RS Pro, Venom 50C 5000mAh and zero issues here as well. :)

little help i am running a tekin rx8 and the sc4x tekin 5.5 motor with a 12/62 gear ratio with esc temps at 107 motorat 157 with the timming set on the hot wire at ten i see some set ups running it at 60 what would that do for me if i change mine from 10 to 60 and those temps are after a 15-20 minute run on track full out also battery is a 35c 5000 protek lipo

JayL 06-07-2011 04:53 PM

original lrp sphere tc with old novak ss 5.5 540 can running well in the 4x4 and it weighs alot less than the 1/8 esc/550 combo

You should be ok, I think the gear chart shows 13/62 on the 5.5 motors, I run a 13/62 with my tekin sc4x 4.5, but i also run a castle fan on it temps were at 145 in 95 deg temps last Saturday.

Any thoughts on this? Maybe AE did not grease the shafts when assembling the diffs?

These get really sloppy on the 2wd, same design. They are only held in place by the planetary gear pin inside the diff. There isn't much to prevent lateral slop in them and they aren't designed to. The good news is the diff doesn't care, there is no force in that direction. They transfer torque from the planetary gear drive pin to the outdrive without any lateral movement. I'm surprised they don't appear to leak.

Tried those...they're smaller, believe it or not.

Either that, or ThunderbirdJunkie's stocker is just stretched out:ha:

NEED INPUT

I am pretty new to 10th scale, have the new truck, and so far I am getting frustrated with the power system I bought, here's what I am using, RX8 ESC, Novak 550 5.5t Ballistic, running 2 cell, quality packs, using stock rotor, and stock spur 62, have put a 17t as my pinion, and the truck is a dog, followed all specs on build, took my time, just need to know if some of you other guys are using this combo, or motor anyway, what are you gearing, need power for racing.....

About to buy the Tekin 4.5,

About to buy the Tekin 4.5,

drop about 3 teeth on that pinion. I'm running an LRP 5.5 550 motor with a 14T pinion and it's plenty fast.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that would be moving in the wrong direction, LRP, not sure what there KV is on the 5.5, but I'm sure it's different than Novak, 17 is slow, gearing down would just make me strap C4 to it a blow it up....

Super Coupe 06-07-2011 07:22 PM

I run 14 62 with a novak 5.5 550. It's not the fastest thing out but definelty isn't struggling to clear any jumps.
