I also run the Fantom motors. Very pleased with the power. Turn it back up to 100% and you might want to take the timing up from 0 to 10. Gives it a tad more RPM.

What ESC do you run with the Fantom motor? Do they do sensored only?

Thanks for the advice. I plan on picking up a temp gun eventually, but I'll start at 15 and use the touch method for now.

Here is some additional advice. Not all temp guns measure the same. What you want is consistency in the reading, whether its high or low. After all, you can pick up a infrared temp meter for about $20.

If your borrowing a temp gun, always try an borrow the same one. If not, you may find yourself constantly chasing shadows because of the differences in peoples meters.

LRP TC Sphere. They'll do any type of motor.

Well, here it is, finally...

Heading out shortly to pick up the missing Deans connector, so it should be running tonight.

JD, thanks for the temp gun info. Knowing me, I'd borrow one every time I go to the track and then spend the day trying to troubleshoot heating problems that don't exist :D

What does a 17.5 turn equal in kv?

K_B 04-24-2009 04:11 PM

2200kV according to Novak:

Something helpful for setup; 80w shock oil in the diff hooks up nice on dusty blu grooved clay outdoor tracks. 40w in the shocks is a good starting point for tracks talored for 1/8 scale buggies. I am finding the SC10 isn't really faster than my Slash, just more graceful. I think its lighter weight and better plastic work out better for racers as far as wear and tear.

Anyone been on RC10.com they are out with the new SC10 RTR model they list a price of 339 but i looked up part # 7026 on towerhobbies.com and they are 229.99 and coming out in May. Saving my money  but maybe this is old news about the RTR model?

Mine isnt faster then my slash either. In fact this truck is harder to control. It kinda bugs me a little

Maybe you're better off driving a slash!:lol::lol:

I honestly think I am. On a dry track my SC10 is unmanageable! Of course it's my motor that is the problem. I put my punch control to 100% today, that didn't help too much as I still needed the EPA down to 70% or so. I'm going to switch to a 17.5 setup. Our 1/10 track is quite small so it speed or power aren't necessary, just finesse. I'm looking forward to getting a 2200kV or so motor, why in the hell doesn't CC make a lower kV motor?

On a high bite track where traction is not an issue the sc10 does well. But on a loose dusty low traction track the sc10 has a hard time maintaning it's composure and is easily overpowered.
I may try some spikes or something to help out on a really loose track.

bash your sc10

i built my truck to bash around and jump. so far after to weeks of bashing and jumping and betting the crap out of it . i am happy to report the truck is very tuff.. no brokin parts. i have had this thing 15 feet int the air and land on its nose and not break.
all you have to do is lay in a thick layer of JB weld in the front where it might break. fill in the area from the bottom of the screws all the way to the servo. . be carfull it dont interfear with the stearing. then make a front shock tower brace from some tubing and some 4-40 rod and shock rod ends or turn buckles. run the brace from the nurf guard mount to the shock tower.
with these to reinforcements you will never break you chassie or shock tower again. my buddy even ramed my sc10 into the side of the house dead on going about 30 and all it broke was the front bumper suport. i run a cc 5700 and mamba max. runs great mayby a bit to fast but just rite for me..

I don't think you can get rid of the rear sliding entirely. We have medium bite outdoor dirt track (if you know Catus classic track) and people slide all the time, but I don't think it's to the point where it's uncontrollable.
Me personally, I like sliding and loose rear (up to a point). Better than catching an edge and flipping over.

Besides, it can't be worse than slash. :D

I think the truck handles very good if you add weight to it (a lot). This wed I was still having troubles with my brushless GTB setup so I pulled it out and put in my Traxxas 12T titan and speed control from my slash (with a little trimming to make motor fit). I ran in the slash mod class because that is where they make us run our SC10s (no biggie) and the rest of the field was bout 50/50 slash and sc10s. All others were brushless and faster on the straight (a lot faster). I however have my truck pretty dialed in and it could out drive the faster trucks and i ended up with 2nd in the Aman and on the same lap as the winner who had a 10 turn brushess setup in an SC10 running differnt tires and wheels for better traction. I was pretty happy with that performance to say the least. I think the weight makes a huge difference.
