Just an FYI - Just purchased the standard Associated SC10 Kit at Tower Hobbies for $138.00 less $20.00 coupon for a total cost of $118.00.

ThunderbirdJunkie is wholly convinced his SC10 is now 100% indestructable after the last two nights of racing.
Slashes, Ultima SC's, other trucks broke. Not this sucker. Despite easily being the worst, most crashy driver on the track:lol: |
can anyone tell me what losi pistons are the same as the AE 1,2,3 if anyone knows thnx Will G

We went back to the track this weekend. I added the 1 degree rear hubs and 3 oz of weight behind the battery. I moved the battery back to the forward position. I also ran a front sway bar. I basically copied Kody Numedahl's setup but left the rear camber link at it's longest position. The truck was much more drivable. I still spun in a couple corners, but there was loose dirt outside the line in those areas. I was able to get a better rhythm in the back and was hitting the tabletop to double combo about 50% of the time. I wanted to spend some time working on my setup before the first heat, but I had a rear shock blow the o-ring retainer during practice. I had to rush to rebuild the shock and finished it right before the first heat.
Now for the funny part. When I signed up I told the guys that they could put my son in the RTR/stock or kids class if they ran it. When they posted the heats they put both of us in the RTR/stock class. I wound up racing 4 little boys. It gets worse. One of the kids was actually pretty good. He beat me by 1 lap in the two heats and beat me by 1/2 laps in the main. I looked at the results for the Open SC class and I probably could have finished ahead of a couple people in the B main. I'll have to take that as come consolation for now. For the next race I'm going to try going to the middle hole on the hub for the rear camber link. I'm also going to add a little rear camber (-1.5) to see if I can improve the rear traction in the corners a little. Chris |
Chris, if it makes you feel any better, the only heat ThunderbirdJunkie has outright WON so far is because everybody else DNF'd:lol:

I don't know for sure on the AE to Losi pistons, but I have found that when I ran AE #2 in front with 35wt oil and #1 in rear with 30wt oil I swapped out for #56 Losi (red) in all four with the same oil combo and had great results. To me the Losi pistons feel a bit smoother in action. |
please help!!
Hello Everyone,
I just got into racing touring cars(13.5 brushless) and I want to get an SC10 also. I want to do A LOT of research first because I deffinitly didn't do enough before I got my TA05v.2 and needed to keep going to LHS and online stores.. (And I did research on it for about 2 months before I couldn't wait any longer) I'm hoping to get the SC10 around the holidays-after new years maybe. I just want to be ready and know how much I'm going to spend and exactly what I'm getting beforehand. I decided if I get 2wd I should get SC10 and if I get 4wd maybe a jammin.. I'm looking at the FT kit because I hear it comes with a lot of upgrades. I want one for mostly bash around in my yard and also keep up with everyone at the track when I go to races. (think they're running 13.5 or 17.5) What else will I need to get along with the kit? I know motor/ESC, servo, and another receiver What are good motor/ESC to use? Do they have to be waterproof or something? What's a good steering servo? What replacement parts should I stock up on? What gears/pinions should I get for good acceleration all around/good on straights/not bad on motor? What different types of tires should I get? ANY advice on anything helps!!! Thanks! |

anyone else having issue with the anti-squat shim coming out during a race? if so how did u fix it?
|
Anti-squat shim?
Just used ballstud washers...wasn't even aware there were anti-squat shims. Do these come with the nifty new toe block thing? |

Yep those are them. There is a thick one 2deg and a thin one 1deg or zero with out. If they come out the screws are too loose.
|
Stupid question. Either of you guys have calipers where you can measure the thicknesses of these?
Compare the thickness with .030" ballstud washers and just stack the washers on each screw until they fit. They'll fit ;) |
That was the way we used to do it back in the RC10T days...just add a washer or 2.
