This truck is a handful..!! I am used to driving a slash and a fully modded slash, but this thing was tough to drive.

I started with a 13.5 motor in it, but for some mysterious reason it took a dump on me after 2 laps.. I am sure this is no reason of the truck.. It hadnt been used in a while so I am sure it was bound to happen. I then put in a 10.5 that I had sitting around, and I sure this is too much motor.

But, there are a few chassis setup items that I need to change, that I am sure will calm the truck down a bit.

1. 3000k diff oil is WAY to much! The truck was spinning out everywhere.. On straights, out of corners, you name it.. And yes I was being super mellow on the trigger, and the track was watered. I think I may go to like a 20wt shock oil, or even to the grease that the kit calls for..

2. The rear sway bar is no good.. Even with the lightest bar. That is coming off for next test and tune.

3. There needs to be some weight added. This truck is so light compared to the slash, that it has problems staying hooked up. I will be adding a few ounces of weight to the rear of the chassis.

I can see the potential. I am sure with a few tweaks it will be pretty dialed. I think the 13.5 motor that I originally had in it would be about perfect for being fast and manageable.

I do know it looks killer! It is still a head turner... alot of people have still never seen the truck in person.

Anybody else out there have some chassis setup tricks that they have learned since driving??? I cant wait to get this baby dialed, its going to be fun!

Check out the pics.

Jasun,
Definitely add weight, to the front + the front of the battery + the rear of the chassis.

Also the long rear camberlink made a huge difference in planting the rear.

Lighter weight oil in the rear shocks, 25w

Stiffer front springs gold is what I use and I heard even blue works.

Grease in the diff, so far.

That is ALL I did and my truck went from out of control to punch it almost everywhere. Of course tires are still the limiting factor but you get my point.

I'm lookin for a little more steering into and less out of corners and am gonna be running the 30 degree casterblocks tonite.
We'll see.

Hey Cuda are the castor blocks the same as the B4 ? I'm at work and dont have a manual and was going to pick some up at my LHS if they are different.

When I got mine I think they were marked T4/B4 but I'm not certain.

Hope they work or I just wasted $4!!!

Alright.. so here's mine from the SC10 pics thread. The build was pretty simple, it took < 2 hours. I do like the gear diff, but I appreciate how easy it is to tune the ball diff in the T4. Tonight will be my first race with it, if we don't have enough CORR MOD trucks we're going to run them against the spec Slash's. Should be fun either way...

The stock caster blocks part #7919 are actually the GT2 blocks. The others will work but their made alittle different.

Jasun,

I was piting right behind you and had the SC10 with the TRU wrap.
I added 2 oz behind the battery. Im running 35 wt. in front, 2 limiters with blue springs and stock pistons. Im running 25 in the rear, 2 limiters with green springs and stock pistons. I'm running my arms level front and rear. I have aka foam in the tires, i think stock foam would be much better for a track like hot rod. Im going to try the slash tires once i get some wheels. I'll be out there next tuesday trying some different stuff also, hopefully you can make the treck again and race that thing.

What tires did you order the Slayer tires???? or are you going to mount the 2.2's on T4 wheels...

Dragonfueled 04-15-2009 10:43 AM

How much weight totall are you guys adding?

trx450racer174 04-15-2009 10:55 AM

This is Cudas weight. I will try this setup with a little less in the rear as i am
running a 4600 match pack and he is running a Lipo.
4 x 1/4 oz squares on the front bumper skid plate

2 x 1/4 oz on each side of the front of the battery tray standing up

2 x 1/4 oz on each side at the rear of the chassis, look by the antennae.

wwoodruff 04-15-2009 11:23 AM

Did I do something wrong? The rear camber links rub the shock springs enough to cause problems. :weird:
