shoot wrong thread

just got my sc10 last week and finally raced yesturday. got it used with a cc4600 and it flies. I'm running and indoor carpet track with jumps, so very high traction.

my ? is... I have major grinding inside the tranny and have it narrowd down to the diff internal gears. I have a new diff kit ordered and then I was told some thing about the newer versions needed shims in the diff. what shims and where do I put them, and will the come with the kit??

The newer diffs rebuild kits should have a thicker larger side gear shim. The big shim inside the diff.

If the new shims are the same as your old shims, contact Ae and they'll send you better shims. (be nice, k)

the mesh of the inside diff gears needs shimmed a bit tighter thats all. I'm going to put a MIP ball diff in mine.

While the diff is open fill that thing with some silicon. It makes a world of difference on carpet ;).

Not a new build but an upgrade

Have been running my SC10 racing in the mod SC class for the paste 2-3 months with no real maintenance besides the diff and shocks. We run on only carpet and indoors. I figured it was time for some upgrades.

RPM A-Arms F/R (A little disappointed I couldn't hook up my sway bar)
Diff Rebuild
MIP CVDs
Shock Rebuild
New Tires/Wheels
New Bearings
New Body (No rub using JConcepts Truth Body)

Well it's about time for a new set of tires for the ol sc10. Has there been any luck on a 12 mm hex fit yet, if so are all slash, hpi, losi rims which are 12m do they all fit or are there offset issues. Which would I want so not to create a big width issue. Also I'd like the rims to match so fronts would be in order is there adaptors for that as well.
Rules are we can only run one of the big four rtr tires and the AE tires are the best but the rims with roll pin leaves something to be desired. Thanks if anyone can help or has been down this road allready.

while i'm sure this has been gone over many times, I dont feel like reading through 235 pages so I was hoping someone would do me the favor of explaining how to increase rear traction so the back wont be all over the place all the time .
thanks

I just ran my sc10 for the first time tonight, and it's pretty good, but the stock motor gets really hot even after gearing down. The motor just seems pretty shitty IMO, so i think imma put my LRP sphere in there with a 17.5 but im not sure which 17.5 to get. So my question is whats the hot 17.5 for SC? I heard the duo 2 is good. any opinions are appreciated! Thx!

i tried the slash conversion hub kit and ended up having too much offset to the point where it had dramatically reduced steering. it was terrible. I suggest you get some newer AE rims(they are thicker than the old ones, get a couple of washers one for each side so the nut doesn't bottom out) or the Jconcepts.

i am looking to replace the shocks on my sc10 with something other than associated shocks. what losi shocks work this truck? im thinking something like the upgrade shocks from a xxx-t or something. what will fit?

The tekin rs sounds like the one that everbody is using, you maybe want to look into it some more. However, the price tag is substantially higher than most other 17.5 systems. LRP's 17.5 system? Can you send me a link to that. I'm going to pop in a 17.5 system right before spring, and hopefully all of the snow here will go. I'm thinking about the Novak Havok, Havok Pro, or the novak kinetec/ballistac combo. I think they are all sensored, so there is a good low end powerband (I think powerband is the word I'm looking for) What is the stock motor, that reedy radon 17 turn? I'm running a 17 turn venom motor with an xl/5 esc. Mine gets alittle bit hot, but not too hot, what gearing is in that stock thing?

Set-Up:
Use kit settings for starting turnbuckle and shock mounting positions. Do this:

Front Camber: -1 degree
Rear Camber: -1 degree (used to use -2 degrees, but was wearing the inside of tire, changed to -1 degree and now getting even tire wear... dialed!)

Shocks:
Front: 35 wt oil with blue springs.
Rear: 30 wt oil with blue springs (you can try as low as 20wt for more rear grip, but will lose some steering and be a little too twitchy).
(with the spring kits, having same color front & rear give more oversteer (i.e. more steering), using softer rear vs. front will reduce steering and increase rear grip. Softer front vs. rear give more steering and less rear grip.)

Some FT T4 shocks would be nice, but matt runs xxx-nt or t threaded shocks.
