i know i had major problems with mine,i even had them shimed more too.it also pulled to one side or the other.i also think the clicking people are hearing is also the dog bones.i had to drop out of a race be cuase of them.first i changed to a ball diff becuz i thought my diff went.but that didnt fix it either.then i put cvds in it and everything was good from there.it drives ALOT better.im sure the ball diff has something to do with it too.i do plan on putting the gear diff back in to see if i like it or not.
what i am saying is everytime i try to run dog bone i ALWAYS have problems with them and performance of the car. |
Just want to shed some lite on KidAgain's diff issues.
Lookin at it last nite we found that it is all bound up inside acting like a spool with no diff action. Feels really tight and grindy, guessin a shim went to pieces and maybe crap is in between the gears? That's the only thing hurtin his truck and he PROMISED to let us know what went wrong when he finds out. Man, I've been running dogbones since day one with NO issues what so ever. Even when they had the slots in the axles worn about 1/4" deep it still ran fine. I just switched the axles to opposite sides and started the wearin out process on the other side of the slots.:sneaky: My axle slots look like crap right now but the truck runs fine. Good enough to keep my homies behind me last nite. |
Ok guys I just got back home after running my RTR SC10 for the first time. I really liked the truck but I do have a few questions. The only mod that I have done was to install the Losi rear hubs which seemed to work great compared to other SC10's that I have seen.
When I come out of the corner and apply power the truck would pull to one side? Is this what the black grease in the diff does or does this have something to do with the shims in diff? My truck didn't come with any shims for the diff but I have yet to hear any clicking from the diff......or at least it didn't stand out to me if it did click. What weight shock oil is in the truck out of the box? It seems way too soft resulting in lots of body roll which I usually like with the CORR style truck but this is too much. Overall I really like the truck and was very impressed with how much power it has with the stock ESC and motor. I also tested the LiPO cutoff and it worked just as it should although I did get dang near 30 minutes of run time before it shut down with the TP 5000mAH 40C LiPo. I really like the SC10 and with a few tweaks it will be really good. Thanks for any help. H |

H Mine started to pull to one side and the consensus was that my diff started to turn into a semi locked diff meaning its not right. It started to feel crunchy, to test out the smoothness pick the truck up hold one wheel and spin the other by hand if it doesn't feel like its on ball bearings then something is wrong with the diff. It should be really smooth not all grabby and twitchy. Once I take mine apart will let you guys know what was wrong with it. Jake |

H I just ran my rtr as well, quick question though, might be a dumb one as well, but did you do the whole setup for the stock esc as the instructions say, or did you just turn the truck on and run it as is? |
the truck for me performed very well. Running a much softer setup then the original oils and springs. Maybe the additional of Losi parts makes truck handle better. I swapped to Losi springs in the rear and truck worked very well.
Also I noticed to if the seals in the diff get damaged it will cause the outdrives to stick. So replaced them if needed so they are smooth. I moved away from the black grease and now running 90 weight shock oil instead. Seems to do very well with this setup so far. Matt |

I programmed it as the book said and turned the LVC on to protect the LiPos. |

To those of you have installed the new era 1/8 buggy tire adapters, the front tires when you tighten the nut all the way down the tire will not spin you have to loosen the nut up for the tire to spin freely. Do you guys just loosen the wheel nut to allow the wheel to spin freely or do you put some kind of shim in that allows you to tighten the nut all the way down?

speaking of new erra adapters, I have a set for sale, 20 shipped. they have been used for a week.

How do you block out the reverse on the rtr sc10 speedo?
Cant seem to find it in the instructions. |
Try this, taken from below link . . .. . under "Special Funtions"
Disable Reverse - With the ESC connected to the battery, press and hold the set button and switch the ESC on. Reverse will now be disabled. Follow the same procedure to enable reverse. http://aedownloads.com/downloads/ins....sc200.esc.pdf |
