Yes 17 too low. 20-23 at the most. You'll have to temp your gear and see how it does.

@vito: Most of the time I run a 20T pinion with my 6.5T motors.

The most absolutely necessary thing you MUST replace is the skid plat. Replace it with the brass skid plate and that's prettying it. It's NOW said the 19* front blocks are ideal but the masses found the 21* blocks to calm the car down and make it flow better through corners. With my 410, the 19's would force me to have to throttle steer to whip the rear end around on med/slow tight corners and it made it tough to keep a rhythm going because I'd already be on too much power exiting corners and to compensate I'd have to let off and feather the throttle more gently. Once I put the 21* blocks the car was smooth through those types section and I shaved almost 4 seconds off my times consistently.

A word of caution, this car is already a bit heavy so depending on your particular track you may need weights in the middle BUT you don't want both the side weights and the rear skid plate. Just one or the other. Generally the rear skid plate achieves a very good balance for the car and all you need to do is tune your suspension depending on track and conditions.

Also, for a replacement wing, don't dick around with anything g other than the Vortex. Been there, done that, and this is the only wing I'll ever buy. The only other wing as durable has been the sweep but the wicker element is too steep for 2wd Buggy but it should be good for 4WD.

Stick with the 22 pinion initially and see how it works for you. If it's too much simply switch to the 20.
