I kinda agree with this. Don't get me wrong, I love both my TLR cars (5.0AC & 22X-4 on turf) but I'm at the point now where I feel I have to "frankenstein" my 5.0AC to stay competitive. An example "frankenstein" to me is like throwing on 22X-4 arms. I'm glad people are doing it and finding benefits and such but at this point it feels time for a new car with the advancements built in instead of frankensteining older generation vehicles to remain competitive. Just my two cents.

seeing youre in ct i assume you're racing at madness?
i was there Saturday for some 1/8 nitro tuning. I had never been there before and i was like woah i need a carpet car.
probably going to pick up am xb2 21 or 20 to try out.
keep the losi cars on the dirt for now because even if i dont "need" to do the Frankenstein mods....why have the car be hindrance off the bat?

I've run at RC Madness before but my "home" track is RCHR in Waterbury. We run indoor turf. Come on down sometime and check it out.

If anyone has insite to the gear diff. It’s been working for guys at OCRC, Its a fairly high bite track. I want to try the gear diff in one of my cars.I hear that some are just running 1 set of the metal gears. Has any opened one up to see what is actually stock , I looked at the manual and I shows both cross pins and 4 gears? I was wondering if the composite gears would work. Thanks

I put the composite gears in it, the ones designed for the 2 wheel gear diff. Stock is 4 gears and cross pins. Had a buddy get one.
I hated the gear diff tho personally. I know it’s been working for nick. But I couldn’t get it to work for me. Car was just too loose on power. Swapped back to a ball diff and my car was good again.

Are the "Stiffezel" arms the only ones available for the front of the 5.0?

I did originally have a full size servo in my 4.0 but it limits how far forward you can get the electrics and therefore battery, most likely ok for low grip.

Hmm, apparently… looks like the standard arms (both front and rear) got quietly discontinued. Searches only return the SZL versions.

EDIT: Oops, as mentioned below, yes - standard and VHA rear arms are indeed available in the regular composite as well. Didn’t see them on the TLR site initially.

That's what I'm finding too. They show a stock number for the rear but not for the front.

I'm looking for Non-stiffezel arms for the front.

TLR234046 are the closest you are going to get. They are from the 3.0 and are the exact same geometry as the 5.0 arms (aside from not having a sway bar ball) and are not Stiffezel.

We don't make non-stiffezel front arms any longer. All of the race team ran the SZL arms, and we didn't sell many standard one, so when the most recent update came about we didn't even setup the standard material.
