Iím curious, because Iíve seen talk of this mod for months now. Is this mainly for carpet, because I recall some people mention that using the 22X-4 rear arms is not for all situations.

Itís also interesting that the AC seems to be discontinued. I would speculate that we will either see an AC Elite, or maybe a mild refresh to the 22 (not a 6.0) that begins with all the secret goodies Frank, Gil Jr. and the crew have been working on to improve the buggy on carpet these past few years. I HOPE that means we finally get an easy access diff as well.

One can only wonder what amount of changes would be required to make it an 22 6.0 AC instead of an 5.0 AC2. There has been talk of testing different chassis lengths, the front and rear suspension modifications in plain sight, the rear sway bar mount, the quick access diff we all want to have, revised shock internals and domed caps... Did I forget anything other than the flux capacitor?
If I was to dream about a new platform, it would have a smaller front pivot and ballraced quick access sway bars similar to those on touring cars...

I know about the domed caps (which I would expect they might offer composite versions in an updated kit?), but after the V2 seal package update, what more would they revise? The shocks seem awesome to me with the V2ís and thin pistons. Iím still using the old aluminum caps though.

So I'm looking at building a 17.5 buggy for carpet. I can still find the AC kit on Amazon for $269. I know it's discontinued, so how long can I still buy spare parts for it after? Going to be my only car just to keep me busy when I'm not playing with real cars. I don't want to upgrade a chassis every year just to play for a few months.

The 5.0 platform is still the ďcurrent carĒ, and the AC was just a variation of it. As long as the Elite and DC Roller are still available for it, no worries - all the parts unique to the AC are still optionals for the platform. Even if the other two kits get discontinued, TLR/Horizon maintains a policy of keeping spares stocked for about two years after the fact.

That's already a fully revised package vs. the 5.0. The only additional upgrade I could think of would be shock bodies manufactured using the method Ryan Dunford described in one of the 8ight XT videos, which seem to be smoother again.
While I preferrred the plastic shock caps over aluminum on the Yokomo cars, I am not sure if they shouldn't just stick to the current domed caps. Plastic caps would be another subproject requiring durability testing and an expensive mold, and most TLR customers would prefer the alu parts anyway.

Designed an oversized Shock Bushing that takes up some of the slop in the plastic or metal shock top. This will work for the 22 and 22x4 cars. Incase anyone wants to print some.

stupid question,

where would one find the rear hexes in the 4.5, 5.0, 5.5 & 6.0 sizes??? The manuals only seem to list the STD that come in the kit.

I think if you look at most of the suppliers A Main, Horizon Etc, you can find them. they don't have to be TLR specific just a 12mm clamping style hex.

for those running the DC Roller on carpet, are you going off the AC for a base setup or is something else floating out there?

Thanks!
