Picked mine up last nite, finished it last nite, ran it today.
It's really good.
SR kit
Here's my issue with 17.5 class, I'm very competitive in the Sportsman class, many wins and podiums.
So I'm in the Expert class, I get that.
Here in So Cal, that's a HUGE leap. 1 second a lap difference between the top of each class.
I'm moving out of the way every couple laps, throws off timing, now I'm that guy that crashes and messes up someone else' s good run as well as mine.
Don't really expect to win, aint gonna happen, no biggie
I hear, not to worry, hold your line, you'll only get faster running with the faster guys...
So I'm an in betweener, I call it Sportspert lol.
I prep and maintain my car like a Sportsman lol
I miss racing with the Sportsmen cuz it's always a battle but I know it's not cool to be that guy.
There, vented, all better now.

Got a few laps in on another drivers fresh 5.0 SR. I liked how stable it was in the sweeper and it took the tight corners like a champ. I was expecting it to slap a bit with the smaller shock shafts but didn't really notice it get unsettled on the big jumps, lands good. I've had a 4.0 sr and now a b6.1d, and the 5.0 felt like a mix of the best straits of both. Very planted and great steering. Overall impressed with the limited time on it. He said he built it with minor changes from his experience with his 4.0 so it was not kit setup exact.

Differential differential and a lighter body what is the real difference between the SR and the AC models. Wondering if I should maybe just get the SR and replace the composite outdrives and differential with a gear diff

Not sure but presume the ac will come with the raised roll centre front and rear along with anti roll bars.

So it will be more than just slap in a gear diff and go for carpet.

carpet car has lots of differences, shock pistons and springs, gear diff, sway bars, stiff rear arms, narrow front wheels, plus 3mm hubs, plus 3.5 mm diff height, wider front wing...

The new longer 25T aluminum servo arm isn't available. I built with the plastic one but don't think it will last long. Anyone got any time on the plastic arm?

I sent it to the web team, should be on the site before too long.

They are different. 5.0 arms are in stock. 4.0 arms can fit with some minor dremel work.

The molded ones have actually been very durable. We are working to get the aluminum version into stock asap, however.

Just an FYI: There is a blank editable, kit setup, and a few others posted for the 5.0 on TLR's site.

FWIW, I have only ever run molded servo arms in my 2wd buggy (AE & TLR), and I have never had one fail.
