Little setup help
Guys wondering if someone can help with some aceleration advise. I had a test day yesterday. The track slightly open, infield slightly technical because you really need to hit the right line to carry the speed over from one corner to another, but with very low grip.
The settings I orginally ran with were - P.S. Motor is Nocak Ballsitic with 0 added motor timing. (Ballistics come with +30 added timing from factory)

Although I was running on 36 and should have been 32 and the track was dirty I was running about 0.5secs per lap off what is good pace for the track. Keeping in mind that the track was filthy and my setup was giving me a bit of an oversteer I wasn't too displeased with that.
I then changed the setup to this - same tires and car setup but starting to allow for the oversteer

Laptimes were about 0.2 per second better and I could see the turbo kick in a bit more. My only complaint is the acceleration still wasn't there.
Any ideas for room to improve? Apart from the esc I can add more timing to motor (worried that the heat will be back up to 70+) or lower FDR (which will give me more speed overall but not sure how that will improe the acceleration issue)

I understand what you are saying but, if the steps have been broken up for more accuracy, then the documentation on the HW site is wronge. In the PDF file that you left a link to on the HW, states Boost can go upto 60deg in 1 deg steps, and turbo can goto 40 deg in 1 deg steps, for a total of 60deg total timing.
Your post contradictes this, can we get some clarification on the total timing available, and the steps.
Shawn.

Put it this way, if all the speedos on the market can only put in a similar useful amount of actual extra timing, then whats gonna sound more impressive?
30° in 0.5° steps, or 60° in 1° steps? Only have to look back through the pages to note that everyone raved about having 60°... hey, it's more than 46°, so it's got to be better right?
Anyway, I guess as a few have realised, I'm now running a HW 120A in my car... got to say with the 5.5t motor I was using last week, felt very good and smooth, and nice brakes. Thankfully Sizheng was at the track to help get me set-up, and give advice on what to run. Not much to it really though, zero boost, 14° (or should that be steps?) of Turbo, and geared about 7.6FDR... can you say missle?
Hopefully will be able to get some more testing done before the TITC, although I've been told that HW will be there from the 14th for testing, so who know's whats in the pipeline

Thi isn't ment to be a bag on HW (and as far as I'm aware, they weren't the first in this.. T...n) but I figure it's a little bit of marketing

1S racing is very different then 2S. On 1S it takes alot to fry a motor, since you dont have the raw power available from the battery. I would never dream of running 60 deg timing in my TC!
The extra timing allows more boost (I would like to run 45-50 deg boost), allowing my car to have a higher RO. This will provide the needed rip out of the corner, while still having the high speed for the straight.

May I ask what software are you running? I also tried 8.0 gearing, with punch on 1 and timing on 8 or so, and it was less that impressive I thought.
Cheers

i tried to run all HW, using HW120A ESC (119FW) and the new version HW Xerun 10.5T on my touring car and i must say i'm impressed with the combo.
geared it at slightly higher FDR (8.8) and really runs well and cool (65C) after 8 minute run. top speed was just fine though i know it can still improve.. initial grunt may not be as aggressive but i can surely feel good boost afterwards
settings below:

question from HW gurus... what can still be improved on my settings? we don't have laptime yet on the track (low to mid grip - concrete)

I already emailed my question to hobbywing and awaiting a reply, but i wanted to know does anyone do anything with the 1/8th scale BL setups?
Also, are any of you running the HW in off road? I started here and started working my way backwards.
I'm still new to all this stuff, but I hope to help out as I am a dealer and seller of hobbywing here in the US.

I went back from 0119 to the 1224, because the set-up I have with that FW is really fast, if not the fastest there is on our track, at this moment, yes even faster then the tekins!
Equal in the first 4 minutes, but then I start having the advantage, because I'm running cooler and more efficient with the power in my lipo's!....
It's not at all fully opened, but that's the secret, you have to run for 8 minutes, and not for only 1 lap!

We will soon buy a programmable controller.
The most powerful engine we use is the Speed Passion 13.3 V3
Is the Xerun 60A suitable for that?
Or is it better to buy the 120A version?
(1:10 4WD TC on 2S lipo on carpet and tarmac)

Just upgraded my firmware to 0119stock. I was using these setting on 224
4 = 7
9 = 30degs
10 = turbo ramp 9deg/0.1secs
12 = 20deg
13 = 2000rpm
14 = 0.2secs
15 = timing acc 750rpm/deg
I run a nosram x11 Storm Evolution 10.5 motor in a schumacher mi4 with a FDR of 7.6 on a medium sized carpet track with a 50ish meter straight and normally a tight infield. Ive put theses setting in for 0119 as a start point. Anyone have any suggestions of anything i should change before my first run. Thanks
