Islandboy- You should not be tearing up outdrives. I have been running the same outdrives for nearly 2 years and have never had a problem (I only run mod, both carpet foam tire and asphalt rubber). The problem lies in the maintenance of the car. If you start with a good set of outdrives and blades, they should last a long time in the rear, and should need replacement (the blades) in the front depending on the style of "diff" you have. This it true for any blade car. Typically if you run a spool, they need to be replaced every 10 or so runs, unless you hit something. Then you need to check them to see if they have been "pinched" and the pin is rubbing on the outdrive. This is the same for a oneway. With a diff, they will last as long as the rears in most situations. If you are going through blades more quickly than this, than more then likelly your outdrives have been damaged, and they will tear up the blades almost immediately. -Jeff

I'm not really your man here since I've never tried racing with foam tires, but the car should give the same kind of response to setup changes.

The most simple thing is to use the middle hole in the steering-thingys that are connected by the centre track rod. Also lengthen the track rod to 40,8mm should improve the car a lot. If this change isn't enough, try slightly thinner oil in your front shocks, some more rear ride height and move your rear wishbones further back.

I've used the car in some really slippery conditions and have only had oversteer issues, so I'm very much surprised by this. I ran my first outdoor season with only no option parts other than a one way and it performed great, so you should be ok without changing too much.

Someone with out door foam tire racing should have a few more tips but this could be a start at least.

Mi2 foam tire out door setup.

30 wt blue springs 2 hole piston. shocks stood up almost all the way, 4 deg castor drilled camber link....thats about all I can remember. Try RCOldman, Fred has a great setup for outside on foam. Latif was always fast too. Maybe one of those guys can help you out.

Default Outdoor foams

I am racing outdoor foam in Bunbury, Western Australia but next year we are changing over to rubber, we are only a small club but we have fun. I had my first win on the weekend and this was my first meet in mod electric after moving up from pro stock and that was with the car handling like a pig (understeer)
and i am very happy with the new car Mi2 ( i had a Tc3) and i beat my team mate and he drives a JRX S and it flies.

I have seen some cars with the top graphite plate, that is solid. I was wondering who sells this top plate, and about how much does it cost?

You've probably seen the BMI carpet top deck. I'm not sure how much they go for though. You really only want to use this deck for carpet though.

Hey Jon, thanks for the info. Thats what I am runing on, is carpet.

Do you know if you can buy just the top plate? I went to BMI's web site, and they dont say if you can buy just the top plate.
