Forgot to warn you.

Running a ThunderbirdJunkie setup on your race rig makes you make ThunderbirdJunkie-esque bonehead mistakes.

Like going to a track an hour away, and realizing you got everything...but your transmitter.

Or going to your buddy's house to put a radiator in your Jeep and realizing once you get there you forgot your radiator.

Or going outside to paint a new lid, and then realizing the keys you grabbed off the counter were the keys to work/the Jeep, and you left your apartment keys on your counter, and cannot get back into your building.
So you drive to the LHS to buy duplicates of the paint you already have and finish painting there while you wait for the old lady to come over with your spare key

I finally got my SC10 4x4 together and raced at Washtenaw RC Raceway. All I can say is wow. I do like this truck. thanks to Krio for some set-up advise and to all on this thread. I did not have a clutch basket but I did use Garodisks from RCshox.

After all the talk on here about the slipper I assumed that I would be battling slipper issues all day. After some practice and the first heat I torn the slipper down and noticed that the Front slipper was wearing near the shaft. My thrust bushing was protruding a little past the slipper plate such that the Garodisk was not contacting. I probably had very little front wheel drive.

So I removed the Garodisk from the Front slipper and replaced it with a HD pad. This solved my problem and I was getting much better punch. I do not check the garodisk yet on this I well check.

I'm not sure I will get a clutch basket since the Garodisks work so well with my 4.5 Ballistic 550.

And Krio was picking up some goodies at the awards banquet in Lansing tonight.

Weird that you say the bushing in the front slipper plate was interfereing with the Garodisk. First, the bushing should be flush with the plate, and secondly, it looks like the hole in the garodisk should be larger than the outer diameter of the bushing. Weird.

Picked up a SC10 from a fellow track guy. Ran it today for the first time. it just had the box setup on it. wasnt as fast as my durango by an means, but seems like after I get a setup on it, it should be a fun truck to drive. already started working on doing the saddle pack conversion, ordered the clutch basket, vented disc, and spring kit.

I was running enduros, had the stock springs and 2 stage pistons, 30f/25r. Dude running the fast losi was running enduros.

Maybe I should have run the yellow fronts? Truck was bouncing all over.

Gridirons would have been best but all I had was cityblocks...they were good enough, I would have won with gridirons. Lastly I think the exotec chassis would be awesome on a outdoor track, making the weight as low as possible.
Yeah, that middle chassis section looks interesting. I'm running some dead weight opposite the battery.

Hey Veg, what tires were you running? I have been running on a large 1/8 track that is slightly blow out, and it gets dusty. I have found that bowfighters m3 work better that DD's, holeshots, and enduro's. Also, the duratrax possie in soft compound work well aslo. When the track is damp, the bowfighters are amazing.
Would have been alot better w/ some water on the track.

BTW. Upon post race clean up and tear down, I noticed the front belt tensioner was loose. Loose like it never got tightened down loose.

I'm afraid after putting the small front pulley on, I didn't re-set or tighten the front tensioner. I thought it felt bad, but it felt bad all day. I'd have to guess the belt was barely, if at all turning the front pulley.

It's always the little things.......

Ok guys...I need some advice. I'm eventually going to convert my truck to saddle packs, but I'm looking to get a new esc. I have a Novak kinetic & I've been having issues with it so I think it's time for something more reliable. I was thinking of trying a rx8 but I don't know if it will fit when I convert to saddle packs. I'm running a 550 D3 4.5 so I want to stay with a sensored esc. Will I have to go with something small like a viper esc? Please let me know what you guys think/know. Thanks!

You could run the rx8 where the rx box is now, and them put the rx under the belt cover toward the rear.

I want to put the esc on the battery side of the chassis...sorry I should have said that...that's why I was wondering if the rx8 would still fit.

Default Failed pin mod

I tried to do the pin mod and failed. Problem was that the dremel bit I was using couldn't make a dent in the hardened steel shaft and melted off the cutting edge of my bit as soon as it go though the slipper plate.

I don't really have the tools to drill though that accurately, and I'm not really having problems anyway, so I'll wait until there are pre-drilled kits available.

Go thing I got a second shaft and plate to try this with.

Stick packs for life. Raced carpet off-road series today. TQ and a win. The pin mod did not work well for me on this layout. They had three mogul sections on this layout that the pin mod seem to not like so my lap times with out the pin gave me quicker lap times over all.

It'll fit if you cut the "cage" for the fan off.

ThunderbirdJunkie may have an RX8 for sale in the next few days, just an FYI. It's being acquired in a trade for an MMM and he won't need the ESC.

I drilled it in the truck. Took my time cutting the slot so the pin bottomed out on the slot at the same point that the the pulley did on the plate.

ThunderbirdJunkie had his shaft pinned. The ladies loved it, but it dribbled out the sides when he peed.

That's awesome of you, CS. ThunderbirdJunkie may send you his spare rear topshaft just in case he comes across a screaming deal on another 4w SC10 he can't turn down.
