Good question, I'm still trying to decide. I'm still working on my RC8Be and have the servo coming tomorrow. I don't have my charger or battery yet but after those items are purchased I'll try to decide which pinion to go with. I'm new to all this so I'll be looking for a lot of advice also.

How big is the track you will be running on? I would start with a 16 or a 17 and see how it does. The 17 might be a little to much punch. I am running a 1400kv on 6S and I am running a 16t which puts me at 31080rpm and a top speed of 43.75.

With your same setup using the 2200kv and 4s you would be at 32560rpm and 45.84 top speed with a 16t pinion.

I am running on a medium sized outdoor track with a pretty long straight and the motor pulls the whole way down the straight and never tops out.

Thanks Michael,
The track is a medium size outdoor with only one long straight, I'll probably try a 16T then.

What pinion would you suggest for someone that doesn't race but enjoys letting it rip in a local park or parking lot with a 2200kv?

If you are just looking for raw speed you can go up to about a 19-20t and should not see a huge increase in Temps. I would run it how you plan to in the park or on the street for about 5 minutes and then take a temp and see where it is at. I usually try and keep my motor temps between 145-160*.

No problem. Let me know how it works out for you.

Thanks,

Hey Guys,

I really need some setup help for my rc8b with an RCPD conversion kit. I run on a track with EXTREME TRACTION. Everyone's M2 tires wear out after one run. The main problem is traction rolling. I got the car to where it is not traction rolling, but now It just doesn't handle well when I push it. Please someone help .

well, all things aside, first would try the "Stock" RC8Be set up and go up or down from there...it's a pretty good baseline set up!
but if you have "Already dont that"
try the "Stock" set up except change out the front sway bars for both front and rear are "Gold" and put rear hubs in "Top" hole
or lowering the hub.....
another thing to try is Brent Thielke's set up for High traction track settings....it seems like when one looks at it like Whaa???
but it "Works" with the stock pistons 1.3x6 is middle of the road feels pretty good...with 1.1x10 feels better with better "Pack"
and with the New 1.3x8 Angled drilled Tapper pistons,it's like "Velcro"

Hi Blade,

Where would you find Brent's set up?

Thanks!

Got my RC8be FT put together over the weekend and my battery should be in today. I can't wait to run this thing. My first Associated Kit since the orginal RC10! Very nice quality, anxious to see how it runs using the stock set up as a baseline.

Tekin RX8/ 1700 kv T8 on 3600mAh 5s.

The baseline setup is decent but I would look into either the Thielke setup or the Jarosz setup I have ran both of them and they have both worked. The Thielke setup suits my style a little better and I liked it better on the outdoor track.

Let me know how you like the 1700 on 5s setup. I have been thinking about dropping down to 5S. I am currently running a 1400kv on 6S and it is more then enough.

Here is a link to the setups I was referring to.
Jarosz - http://67.199.85.166/racing/setups/r...inder_2009.pdf
Thielke - http://67.199.85.166/racing/setups/r..._wcrc_2010.pdf

Unless my math is way off, that sounds very optimistic. I would expect to be around 33 mph with that setup. What are you using for wheel circumference?

What factor do you use to calculate the speed? (i.e. free vs loaded RPM)
