The size of the motor pretty much just dictates how easily it can move the vehicle. A small motor can be put in a larger vehicle, the gearing just has to be changed to match.

You can, but you just have to gear it properly. You top speed will be a lot slower. Just watch the temps.

A 1/10 motor under 4000kv would definitely work on 3s geared down. That's what people used to use back when the first 1/8th conversions were being done and Castle Creations hadn't yet made their 1/8 motors.

I actually use a 5200 Kv motor in my 4WD SCT on 2S. That's geared very low(11T pinion) and my Hyper 10 probably weighs about 2 lbs less than my RC8. He can try it, but I wouldn't recommend it. My motor gets into the mid 160s F during the summer, and I'm pretty easy on the throttle most of the time.
I also had my 8ight E setup to run about the same temp range. I drove it for years without issue(Castle 2200Kv system on 4S). I let another guy who's much more aggressive with the throttle drive it... he thermaled in about 5 minutes.
He might get away with it, and he might not. I always try to stay in a super safe range when making suggestions to people that I've never seen drive.

I'm a new proud owner of this buggy. I got it last night from a friend who works in a LHS. It needs a little work but runs good. It has a hpi rage esc and losi excelroin 1700kv along with 4s custom made lipo battery. Will post pics when I'm allowed to. Question, does any Rc8 spec body fit?

hey all, been a while since did any buggy driving/bashing ( with my 8,2e )
Now I can get a great deal on a nitro rc8b , but I'm a electric guy all in.
Is there any 'rebuild' kit done, ore anyone drew up a parts list on what needed to install a brushless motor in this buggy.
Probably been up for discussion many times by now since the release , but any pointers would be great. Thanks

How much difference does the Gullwing arm and Tower make? I got a sweet deal on a b6d so I grabbed it. I've got the car mostly converted to the stock b6 setup. The arms and tower are in transit but I race before they will arrive.
The other item I'm on the fence about is the gear drive. Ran oval back years ago on carpet with a diff and locked Slipper. What does the gear diff do over the ball for the high traction on carpet?
