87/17 is a good place to start for both setups, the 10.5 will be close to the 4600 depending on the motor manufacturer.

I dunno, the manual suggests 75/25 for that kind of setup.

Gotcha. Have the 4600 in it now, love how it runs, will just go and try the 10.5 for S&G's.

75/25 is WAY too tall for the Sidewinder 4600 on 2S...21/85 is borderline too tall...motor's about 170* after a good bashing run

with that setup do you get a lot of heat out of the motor , im running stock spur with a think a 18 pinion and the things crazy fast on 3s but cooks its self . also the hobby wing fan on my esc has died and the esc trips out with heat. got a new bigger fan coming so hopfully the esc problem is fixed.

I would just try a few different settings and see how it feels. I am running 3 degrees and it feels about right to me. Plenty of traction but it also puts enough weight on the front end when off power for turning. It just depends on the track and traction.

ok well as ya might of read iv got sum heat issues so befor i change the gearing iv got a few ideas, so i bought sum fans and il see how it go's.

first off i bought a fan upgrade for the hobbywing esc , it comes with alloy billet mount and a pretty big fan , this fan is awsome , blows more than my miss's its about 50% bigger than the stock one.

next i bought a heat sink and fan to mount on the motor. not much room down there so i had to modify the rear bar , got it on there nice and snug and il put a cable tie just to hold it from falling off. im running a Y into the 3rd channel on the reciv.

WHO wants to take bets on how long it last sitting there when bashing lol hhahahah oh well i give it a go , if it does work , im gunna get rid of that lil fan and put the same one as the esc . alloy mount and all .

I got my SC10 running on Monday with the 3900kv motor. I ended up with 20/87 for the gears and it is silly fast (to me). It chomps down a 3000mah nimh battery in no time at all. It was about 145 degrees after throwing it around hard for 20+ minutes.

Sly6t, is that a 8.5 your running?

Just got a 8.5 Novak SS motor with a 2s Havok and was wondering what gearing you suggest starting out with. Its a race only truck, no bashing.

Thanks, it doesnt matter anymore anyway. I got the ESC and motor in yesterday (bought it used) and as soon as I hooked the battery up it started smoking.

I guess it was bad to begin with. I plugged it up (switch was off) and got smoke as soon as the battery made contact.

I am not much on the cheap stuff (reason above is why ). I have a good friend that runs a hobby shop so I have a Tekin RS/13.5 combo and a separate 17.5 on the way. I have been using Tekin for a long time without problems. I will stick with them from now on.
