Well, I think that the break in process is going well so far. I have used the heat gun to get it upto 185-190 between starts and have run 2.5 tanks through it. the LS is set at 4 turns (or .77mm in from flush) and HS at 3.5 turns (or .04mm in from flush) and it seems to be doing well. The temp are running between 205-235, normally right around 215-220. I have been driving it around the street at roughly 1%-25% throttle with littl bursts, but not into high rpm's. It runs and idles great, stalls every now and then when at idle and I do a little stab, as it comes beck to idle. I am sure that this is just part of the break in process though.

I can already tell that it will be a screamer and will get great mileage, it runs forever right now. I finally had to quit because I didn't want to piss te neighbors off!

Looks good though.

Hi there i just picked up a rb mods 821b from another member that is still being broken in. I just ran 11 tanks through it on friday, and it had 11 tanks on it when I got it. As far as the ball dropping, wow, I had it tuned to run decent while still being rich (around 200) and it was starting to come alive. Next tank it was so rich I wouldn't even really run halfway through the tank. It took alot of leaning to get it back to where I was the tank before. It seems to be on it's way. I am curious as to what plugs work on nova besides novas. Rick recommended a hot plug on his engine, but that is all he told me. I am getting some last minute parts ordered for the first oregon pro series in medford and was needing some plugs. What do you recommend?

I've always heard that people won't break in their motors with Nitrotane. No personal experience though.

Those are tuning issues, not fuel issues. I have broken in motors with nitrotane that have many gallons on them now with no issues...

Monty,

What would you reccomend for an XT8? I run Extechs right now but I put an RB S5 in my buggy this weekend and was all smiles. Thinking of making a switch.

looks as if the fuel is gumming up in the engine as it is idling and filling the combustion chamber causing the piston to get stuck .

one of my favorite truggy engines for medium to large track is the p5xs , for larger tracks i would use the seven ports such as toro 365$ or the bada$$ 21-7 fms 345$ you get alot of engine for the money with the fms engine for sure . the p4 325$is also a killer engine if you want a super solid running smooth throttle engine .
hope this helps ,

Wow, this 21-4 is amazing! It only has about 1/4 gallon through it and it already has a ton of power and decent run times. I am getting 7.5-8.5 min run times and this is still very rich to keep temps at 230, once the balls drop and I can lean it out I am sure that I can hit around 10 min at least.

It ran great tonight, no flame outs, problems, or any other isues. I cannot wait until I get about a gallon on it and the temps drop so I can lean it out some. It is just stupid off of the bottom with a strong top end. I know that the top will improve wth time and if the bottom gets any better I will have to recalibrate my left finger...
