Need more bottom end from my 3 port R.
I have good mileage but need more power.
It's great at the top end...managed to pass an OS speed in the straight at the last race and he went into it sooner than me!!!!!!!
I'm using 2047 and jp-1 wxhaust.
Mugen carbon shoes with 1 or 1.1mm springs

With the 1.1 is better but you have to wait for the midrange to pick up in order to get going fast.

Default spec 3

Im having the same issue with my 3 port spec R, it has a weak bottom. It has about 1.5 gallons thrue it and i cant seem to get the bottom to come alive. Just like he said, right when the midrange kicks in it takes off like a bat outa hell and has a screaming top end. I have the clutch set-up for more bottom, I have ran an 086, jp-3, and an 053 for pipes. The 053 had the most grunt, but it still was nothing like my 5 port or my sport 3 port. It runs good, at my last race, no flames in three 6 min quals and a 35 min main. It also like to run a little cooler than I like, but it still has quite a bit of pinch so that mite change. Im going to throw a nova carb on it today and see how it likes that. I know they changed the crank on these motors for a smoother bottom, so maybe thats it. Are you guys running the spec 3 port motor experiencing a weaker bottom on these motors???

Welcome to rctech.....

This is the wrong forum for werks engines..Have you tried searching for the werks forum by using the search engine..Try the werks website,if there is one.Good luck in your findings..

I posted a question a few pages back abouy my 5 port and got some anwsers but I still wonder about my high speed needle. Most say flush with top of barrel but mine is 2 1/2 turns in 3 turns out from bottomed out. The motor is running pretty good If I put mine flush it will be 5 1/2 turns from bottomed out and I don't think it would even run. What I wonder is were there some diffrent top needle assemblys used on these motors? My motor is about 6 months old I think it has the updated carb it's plastic anyway. Just want to make sure i'm not missing anything here.

seems like all my GOs are in a little bit from flush, but as long as your engine is running well, blowing smoke, and not flaming out just keep running that bad boy. 2 of the same engines can have totally different needle settings.

I got smoked by an OS Speed down the straight, but I was using a 12t clutch bell.

Default Go 3 port R spec and 3 Port Sport?

I am interested in trying out a Go 3 Port R spec and a 3 Port Sport.

I was thinking about running the 3 Port Sport on a smaller indoor track and the R spec on larger outdoor tracks. How is the powerband on the 3 port Spec? I would plan on running a Dynamite 086 pipe on both engines? Is this pipe OK?

Could I use a carb from Novarossi P5XS on either engine? Would this carb be a good upgrade?

If I ran the Sport, is it a good idea to change to a Turbo button? If I stay with the stock button, what is a good glowplug to use?

i was considering purchasing a go tech motor but i am not sure what would be the best or ideal buggy motor. if it helps any, my local track in AZ is the nitro pit. i was looking and saw allot of people said that the 5 port has allot of bottom end and the 7 is a little calmer. but i just saw that they just came out with a new 3 port. if anyone could easily let me know what would be the best or ideal motor and pipe combo i saw that alot of people were using the 086 and i believe 053 pipes. the jp-3 pipe calms down the 5 ports bottom end? not sure but if anyone could lead me in the right direction. thanks

I have the PTM 5 port in my truggy and the 7 port in my buggy. I think I should swap them. The 7 port has spoiled me so I may just get another one
Shout out to Brian!

Hey guys, if you havew the newest batch of race 3 ports check the internals, they are revised compared to the first run, they are getting very v-specish.

nova carbs will work in the GO engines, as well as oS v spec carbs, the v spec feels more like the GO carb, the Nova feel more punchy on bottom, like the old GO carb.

My settings on my race 3 port are 1 turn in on top from flush, and at least 3 turns in on bottom, if i run 1.1 at all it's over. i use a Dynamite 086 and Tilted 30%, and 22 thous squish, and the same carb that it came with. over 6 gallons.

I see Amain now handles the Go 3 Port R spec. Does anyone know if this is the latest version of the R spec?
