Tamiya TRF415
Just realised that
I sold my 05 a little while back so havent been keeping up to date. Thats weird, so different tooth count, but same pulleys maybe the mre is a slightly longer belt that the msx? due to the bigger pulleys? Well when mine finally arrives, ill lay them down side by side and post a pic.
And keen to know what ceramics everyone is using! Have a few racers here that run Acer and swear by them, but before i drop 100us on bearings, id like to hear what people have to say about ceramics. Is there a better alternative???

who, me?
i have actually been running versions of the 415 off and on since they came out... my head is chock full of worthless info, i like to use it every now and then!
i guess it started back with the M2... still have 3 of those! along with 2 silver 414Ms. i am somewhat of a TRF collector, i guess...
i could be wrong, tho... but it seemed as i was building the MRE, i laid both belts beside each other, and using the front belt as a comparison, the teeth were off slightly... i think? like i said, i could be just crazy, tho... i know the tooth count on the belt is different, for sure...

Are you a member of tamiya club then?
Also, you can probably answer me a question:
At the 2005 LRP TC masters Rheinard and Spashett built the then new MSX with another manufacturers suspension arms to move the hinge pin locations as they had reverted to the standard 415 due to them being better on the rug than the msx. Rheinard then used the modified MSX with these other arms on it. Do you know which arms they were? Just interested to know as it never showed you the picture of the car close up and things like that just intrigue me!
i hadnt followed that enough to be sure, but id guess the HPI/HB setup? i think i read somewhere that they had tried those sometime. i think it lead to the production of the new "short span" arms as shown on the EvoV? maybe?

Jay,
It was the HPI / HB arms for deffiently. Basically, the arms are have the pin holes closer, which is ment to be better on carpert (one of the reasons why most of the TRF team liked to use the old 414 style suspension on carpet).
Now, given Tamiya have released the short arms... which are 0.5 and 1 mm shorter than the std LWT arms, and 0.5mm longer (at the pin holes) than the HPI arms... coincidence, doubt it
(HPI arms F= 53.0mm, R=53.5,
Std LWT F=54.0, R=55.0,
Short LWT F=53.5, R=54.0)

So the pitch on the belts is different, which means theoretically you can't use the MSX/Std 415 belts on the MRE. However I don't think it'll be a big issue.

I installed the front diff with the 32t gear and the belts felt loose but should be ok for stock, maybe ok with 19T...just need to work on the rear. Concern is the belt tension...I figure if it works it will allow me to run a smaller pinion and have the same roll-out...which in theory is best for small twisty tracks in stock racing....
the part number in the MRE kit for the center pulleys is the same as the ta-05 center pulleys and we've been running ta-05 center pulleys with msx belts for awhile now...also I have been running the full MRE setup front ,center and rear pulleys with the MSX white belts, no issues or wear or slippage 19t.. I just run the adjusters 2 forward instead of the usual 2-3 back as the white belts are shorter
