I look at the features of the MSX conversion and even though it is pretty expensive by the cost estimates, it is worth the time and aggrivation saved in changing diffs, spools, one-ways, gritty diffs and belt tensioning with those bolt together bulkheads!

On the Tamiya USA website it states it is for the 415MS and 415 with LWS kit. I have just a regular 415 and no LWS. I don't want to get involved with the LWS kit. I don't see the reason for the MSX to require the LWS as it is just bulkheads, shock towers and top deck. Any one care to comment on that?

If you make a spool using the yokomo parts make sure you get the steel
outdrives. The plastic ones will break pretty easy.

Where do I find the steel outdrives? Any part numbers? I'm assuming that they're from Yokomo too?

I've used the RCManiax one quite a bit and it works great. The biggest issue, using those bloody Corally blades. Despite the fact that they break pretty easily, they can also be a BIG pain to get back into the outdrives on the spool. Aside from that, even copping some pretty big hits, the outdrives are still in good condition. The only sign of wear is right on the ends of the outdrives as they curled up a bit, kind of locking the bearings on, but I curled them back with some pliers when I went back to the oneway. I don't want to keep a good set of ACER Ceramic Nitride bearings out of my car!

Part Number is ZS-502s.

These are really nice because the end is threaded so you don't need a diff nut and the screw is a larger.
I ordered them from yokomo USA.

The MS suspension blocks are closer together as the LW arms are narrower.
I use the std arms on my EVOIV for carpet, you lose the wheelbase length adjustability, as there is no room for shims. Also you will need to use the TAO4SS front arms #53578, which are swept back to retain the proper wheel base length.

I used 46mm on my 415 w\ standard suspension.

Hmm, as the MSX Conversion doesn't seem to include any main chassies, i would not only need a LWS conversion but a MS chassies too if i want to make my Old 415 an MSX, even if the TamiyaUSA site doesn't say so?

Main chassis and upper plate are included in the MSX Conversion kit.

Kit includes:

# F/R Bulk head
# F/R Damper stay
# Screws/Shims

Yes youīre right. Until now it seemed the MSX chassis is different to the MS chassis and is included in the conversion kit.
Just was at the Tamyia USA site and now you can read there the chassis isnīt included. This was different in the beginning.
So the conversion kit getīs even more expensive.
Maybe Tamiya should realize you can get a similar complete car for not much more money than this conversion kit.

we're using special "spin grease" for our spool - so we can use the blades at least 10-15 runs. we know the corally blades we use are not the cheapest.. but they fit perfect!
our spool is very light and we never heard about a broken rc maniax spool... of course you have to change the blades regularely....

Dropping the chassis is probably why the prices was lowered. It was lowered by the amount a chassis is. Since the chassis is the same the bulkheads should mount the original 415 chassis with out changing the suspension. I'm pretty sure the bolt patterns of the bulkheads are the same for the MS and the Original 415.
