Ummm, if you go to the Rainbow 10 website, it looks like the TRF415MSX conversion set is going for 31800YEN, as of today that $286 with current exchange rates. here's the link TRF415MSX

Atleast maybe other setups then DJ's.

Just wondering.
That's a good question as I'm certain that there are drivers out there that are intrested in other setups. Maybe some carpet ones or setups for other random cars.

Hmm according to the R10 webpage the MSX comes with a Tshirt? What happens if they put in a shirt that's way too small? Cut the sleeves off and make it a TRF wife-beater undershirt? J/K

Got an R10 newsletter today.

Most important part was this:

Kit includes:
*NEWLY DESGINED CARBON PLATES
*EXTREME LOW PROFILE BULK HEAD PARTS
*TAMIYA TRF TEAM T SHIRT BLACK ENCLOSED(PEND)

PRICE: 31800yen
RELEASE: MID SEP 2005

Hmm too expensive in my opinion especially as you also need a complete car. Really would like a MSX but if I have to pay more than 200$ its over my limit. Sorry.

Yeah, that does sound too expensive, works out to around 160... Might just have to budget a little more to afford it

But think of it this way.... at R10.. your paying full retail... you should be able to buy it for much less than 31800 Yen..

Here's the same pic just enlarged.

The MSX conversion looks sweet!

chassis
top deck
front and rear towers
aluminum builkhead and motor mount assembly
steering rack...i think it's in the pic.

now just lower price closer to $200

I think your right, if you were able to buy the parts seperately it would be around $300.00. So the street price should be a little under $200.00.
We can only wait and see!

I am going to be getting a TRF in the near future and just wondered, since spares availability is pretty scarce what spares you would recommend I get to begin with to tide me over? What stuff usually breaks?

Thanks,

Rob

Depends on which TRF car you want, the 415, 415MS, Evo IV and TA04 TRF.

The standard 415 uses the same suspension parts as TA04, Evo III and 414. So there is no shortage of parts out there.

The 415MS and Evo IV use what is called the light weight suspension, which will probably be used in the top end Tamiyas for years.

Depending on what track you are racing on, suspension parts like uprights will usually break when you hit something. I usually have 3-4 spare front uprights and some spare kingpins. I have two spare belts, as some of the racers here have snapped them.

Other than that the 415 is pretty strong.

i've found the 415ms to be very strong. only broke 1 plastic rear hub. only problem i have is bending the alu turnbuckles which i've changed to titanium and some of the alloy ball screws can snap as well. Only main problem is a slight wear on the drive train, but i tend to replace thiings like drive shafts and belts every 3-4 months, so this keeps it running great.
